Caught because he told someone and they snitched, bummer. Please be mindful that he is still only an alleged killer, and has not yet been put on trial for his charges. Innocent until proven guilty.

apparently his republican dad saw the circulating photos and asked his son to turn himself in. I doubt it had anything to do with the $100k reward

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 109 points 2 months ago (4 children)

I like to think if I shot a right wing extremist troll, my dad would help me lay low instead of turning me in. But my dad is an aging hippy, not a maga hat worm brain.

[–] MangioneDontMiss@feddit.nl 25 points 2 months ago

never underestimate republican selfishness and hypocrisy.

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 months ago

If I did that, my brother would snitch on me so quick.

Then our whole family ends up in gitmo (we're not white), but hey, congrats on being a douchbag, big bro. Now we can all suffer together.

Id tell my son to get the fuck out of the country as soon as possible. Then call me from wherever he ends up.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 months ago

It'd probably be better for them not to call. If you're trying to hide, don't give them information on where you are.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I would think the dad doesn't really give a toss about politics and just didn't want to turn on the news and see his son to die in a police shootout.

[–] SparroHawc@lemmy.zip 23 points 2 months ago

If recent events are anything to go by, the dad ain't ever getting that 100k.

[–] mere@lemmy.blahaj.zone 29 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Holy shit that's fucked up. Man basically just killed his own child (or encouraged his child to kill himself) in exchange for $100k.

[–] someacnt@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

Quite common tbh, are there that many caring parents anymore

[–] OnlineWizard@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

So he's dad basically just sent him to die... I am almost certain they will be looking for death penalty and best case scenario it's a life imprisonment. That seems like a great dad :D

The father then called a youth pastor, who is also a U.S. Marshals task force officer. The officer advised the father to have Robinson stay in place. This information was then conveyed to the FBI.

Priests are mandated report crimes outside of confession.

[–] frostysauce@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

So what? Priests and pastors are different things.

[–] presbypenguin@reddthat.com 14 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I'm also guessing "pastor" doesn't mean "seminary trained, regular background checks, psychologically evaluated, tested for competence, and examined by others to discern call in a denomination that requires pastors act like mandatory reporters" but instead means "Bubba says the Bible good and hates the right folks."

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

Yeah this is America, protestants rarely bother with such frivolous "qualifications" here

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

This is Utah, are they not Mormons?

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

In Mormonism, all adult men have the priesthood.

[–] MangioneDontMiss@feddit.nl 10 points 2 months ago

just so its clear, the father and the "priest" were not the same person.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (2 children)

There's footage of him, too. Sadly.

[–] thanksforallthefish@literature.cafe 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Of him taking the shot ? Or of him on campus ?

[–] Brunbrun6766@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Of him climbing down from the building then walking away from the scene

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 26 points 2 months ago

Of someone. How is it confirmed that it's him?

[–] MangioneDontMiss@feddit.nl 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

does that footage have his face in it? or even show what he was wearing very well? Does the person in the footage have 6 fingers?

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

What's wrong with having 6 fingers, you got something against people with polydactyly?

[–] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 months ago

Only if they killed Inigo's father.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 15 points 2 months ago

True, this could all be a misunderstanding, and the real hero is still at large. 🫰
