Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

How come people get mad at the Chinese Government for assisting in building their industries, rather than getting mad at their own Governments for NOT assisting in building theirs?

The US gives subsidies to its own car manufacturing sector as well, the difference is that China with its cheap labor can use subsidies to do dumping in other markets in order to shut down their industry. What happens once China has the monopoly on a sector?

But again... why be mad at China? They are making big investments in their own people and industries to boost their own country's abilities and better their future.

Meanwhile the US is just trying to hamstring the rest of the world instead of doing better.

They're living the American dream y'all used to aspire to.

and US currently trying to move away from EV as per GOP/trump initiatives.

The second GOP went nah, Dodge: "Hemi's back ya'll!" Instead of seeing that no one wanted the Dayton Charger because the price is outrageous for what you get. It's a beautiful car imo, but man that price just blows chunks. Their hybrid Ram is going to be the same I'd bet. Too expensive for what you get. It's also beautiful, but I'll be sticking with my 2010 1500 and rebuilding her instead.

US automakers are completely tone deaf to what the majority of people want. We poor af. We want low cost EVs. Low cost cars and actual small trucks again. I'd love a Ram 150 again. Small Ranger again. The 90's S-10. Even the newer trucks dwarf my 1500.

We need vehicle height regulation too. Not just production but in aftermarket. Want to off road or mud? You do you, but it can't go on the road like that. It has to be registered as off road use only. I did a 2/4 lower. That is perfectly fine to do 99% of the truck stuff I do. Including light off roading.

Because they use those tactics and cheap labor and slavery in order to become a monopoly. In that regard the rest of the world is already better than China so it's China that should be doing better.

the US would do the same, and have done the same with other companies. US isnt holier than thou.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago

I never said they were, I explained the situation.

The US and Europe can't do dumping in the automotive sector because the people building the cars are paid fair wages, China can afford to do it so other countries protect their industry.

Now this sub can stop defending China, you'll start sounding like tankies if you keep doing it.

more interested in keeping the monopolies funding these politicians.

Because their governments are perfect obviously /s

For real! Forced assimilation? Bad! Tianemen Square? Bad! Subsidizing EVs? Semi-planned economy? Seems good. Like literally anything it's a mixed bag. Nuance is lost and so are we

US car companies list their prices with the subsidies included too.

Guess tankies found the thread, like always, downvoting anything bad about China.

Guess the world has forgotten about Uyghurs, too... Much like turning a blind eye to Israel in favor of weapon deals
