Many years ago I stopped going to bars that scanned people's ID.

Sure you can look at it to determine my age, but fuck no you don't get to take a picture of it or enter an image of my ID into some random computer.

Even beyond the bullshit this article is discussing, having pictures of my ID floating around in random places is a massive risk for identity fraud.

7-11 will quite literally scan the barcode on your ID / Driver’s licenses, wonder what kind of information they get from it.

It's basically just all the same info that's printed on the front. You can scan it yourself with certain barcode reader apps.
