As a result, one of the seven Canadian plants producing rebar for concrete has come to a standstill. Thousands of construction sites across the country could soon be affected, as the company is currently working through its surplus inventory.

Let me make a bet, Mittal is gonna use this as leverage to force some government level to intervene on its behalf, as this threatens the already feeble efforts to address the housing crisis.

Plot twist that I pray for:

The government nationalizes the plant as it's a key part of it's effort to address the housing crisis.

It's what a competent government that serious about addressing the problem might do. The bar is low - all we are hoping for at this point in time is to not be sold for cheap to American corpos, to at least negotiate getting us a dinner before fucking us. :D
