A lesson I learnt came from a fitness guy I watched. He said, missing out one day happens. Shit happens. Missing out 2 days is a choice.

I couldn't go out yesterday cause a storm came through. So I did 2 times what I normally do. I don't know if the effects will pan out, but at least I can say I did not slouch. I am ~3lbs away from my desired weight.

Yeah missing a day or even 2 will happen, unexpected things will happen in life. As long as it's just one off thing, i wouldn't worry about it. Only when it becomes a pattern it's worth looking into why it happens and what can be done to offset or compensate for it, if even necessary.

I wouldn't really recommend doubling the work the next day to offset one missed day, mostly because with training we're supposed to gradually push our bodies limits so it could keep up with the adaptations we're aiming for. Mostly to maintain long term consistency. Suddenly doubling the workload, puts disproportionately bigger load on recovery and can interfere with subsequent workouts.
Aka, trained steadily for 10days, missed day11, did double on day12, but was still completely exhausted during day13 so either really low quality training, though sometimes even showing up is good, or completely skipped day 13, but now tried to offset another missed day by doubling workload again.

Please don't take this in a negative way, you're working out which is good. Just letting you know some pitfalls that can happen. Being aware of those can help in avoiding those.

Good comment.

It's also dangerous. If you eat too much today and try to offset it tomorrow by starving (overshooting), you're going to hurt your body if it becomes a habit. (A deficit larger than ~500kcal will decrease your muscle mass)

Rest is also important for recovery, if you need it. The fitter you are. The more you can do.

Yeah, I've learned that if I miss a day due to life getting in the way, I just take the L and move on. I tried moving my workouts around to fit everything in the remaining time, but it often gets complicated and messes up the rest of the week.

Also, one of the advantages of full body workouts is that it's less of a problem if you miss a session.

I do the same nowadays. FB every other day (or whenever I can) is better than a split you can't make. And the main goal for mr is to live and have fun and my body supports that livestyle. Not the other way round.

Yeah that's a rather good approach and 3 full body days are a lot easier to fit into daily schedule and will be more than enough to grow.

I just take the L and skip that day, in the long term those one off days make absolutely no difference and if a pattern starts to emerge then that can be played around.

That's good to know and clears up a lot of things. I have made it a requirement that I walk 5 days a week. I keep it business, Mon to Fri then rest over the weekend to recover, but I may miss a weekday and end up doing a weekend. Not a fan, but it keeps me disciplined. Today was actually really easy and is making me consider pushing myself up over the next few months, but gradually. But I am weak on strength training, so I need to figure all of this out and maybe do that. Thanks.

More muscles will consume more kcal. You could lose the 1.5kg simply by eating at maintenance and working out over a few months.

Of course it's good to push yourself from tome to time, usually thats just done in a slightly smaller increments. But it's good to hear that you're talking it well.

No worries about the strength training part, first thing is to solidify training habit. Once thats done, it's much easier to slightly tweak it and slowly add or switch few walking days to resistance training days.
