Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Reddit isn't coming back from where they've taken themselves. Their crappy UI you can't opt out of, exclusive Reddit only app, algorithmic content recommendations force feeding rage bait for clicks. Account level bans on suspicion of having a previously banned account. Nothing fun about reddit anymore.
You can't even search a subreddit inside Reddit on a desktop PC anymore. They destroyed themselves.
The ban just because i used a vpn is crazy there. I'm taking refuge here at lemmy
But spez got his payday, which is all that counts.
The wrong co founder killed himself years ago.
I personally think they may be having an issue with AI content. As in slop is pushing into the platform and it makes it hard to be used as training data for other entities.
Because other AI models are "good" at reddit style comments (pithy, self important, etc..etc..) those AI models will be used to making posts/comments there. Continuing the slop fest but making it worse for other LLMs. If that was going to be their revenue stream, it gets worse as time goes on.
Yes good observation... it's becoming a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy of....
That's what I'm thinking as well. Surely someone near the top is recognizing how rapidly the slop is overtaking everything. Reddit's singular strength since the beginning is that it's human powered, and that the human mods (problematic as they are) do a better job of removing garbage than any automated system ever could.
That's fucking awful. I expected them to intentify it but they're just breaking basic functions. That site's going downhill fast it's sad to see it go because I have fond memories but ultimately we have to move on. There's a brighter future ahead of us and it doesn't involve these awful corporations.
I just don't even look at it anymore. Nothing of value it is ruined.
So I'm not crazy, I thought i was doing something wrong! Why on earth would you get rid of a search?! I mean probably for people using desktop mode on their phone to get around their silly bull shit but still.
