The last residential school closed in 1996, so I'm not sure where you're getting this date of "1978".

Bill c-61 aims to assure that first nations can get access to clean drinking water, which disproportionately affects indigenous people.

Still disproportionally more indigenous men in prison than any other ethnic group in Canada.

Still disproportionally more indiginous women missing and murdered with little or no investigation by law enforcent in Canada than any other ethnic group.

I mean, the list of inequities goes on. What are you torn on, exactly?

You're also confused about the Indian Act, treaties, and reconciliation efforts.

The present government still tries to bypass its obligations regarding treaties and the duty to consult on mining and waterway management.

Getting it through your thought process that this isn't an us vs them problem is the first step. If you don't think you're next to get trampled because of the color of your skin or your European ancestry, you're thinking of it the wrong way.
