The universe is perfect, it just does not care for the living things in it. We and all other life are just little blips at a moment in time.
Perfect is in the eye of the beholder, and no one can agree on what perfect is, thus, no perfection. The universe just is what it is, it's perfectly itself at least, there's nothing anyone can do about that much.
