Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- AI-generated comics aren't allowed.
- Limit of two posts per person per day.
- Bots aren't allowed.
- Banned users will have their posts removed.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

I don't understand why it's supposed to be funny to make fun of vegans?
I am not a vegan myself, but I absolutely understand their moral reasoning for being vegans.
The drawings are pretty funny, the "joke" is not.
I'm a vegan and it's kinda funny, but maybe its because vegans have a superior sense of humour, due to our diets creating ideal conditions for our brains to operate at peak performance.
I eat French fries, prepackages samosa's, toast and icypoles every day. Its basically the best diet possible and I've started learning how to levitate.
From my experience here, most vegans on Lemmy are sad fucks but I appreciate you are different.

If someone else is doing something good and you're not, it's easier to lash out at them than accept that you're not a flawless person. Since veganism often has a moral dimension (eg: cruelty to animals, environmental damage), some people struggle with this. They want to be good people, but eating meat is being cast as bad. Thus, lash out at whatever's making them feel bad.
I think that is spot on the main issue here.
But everybody needs to be able to accept they are not flawless, because nobody is.
That and a lot of vegans are like Arch users. They bring up their veganism out of the blue without context and some of the more militant ones literally say shit like "carnists should all die."
These are the ones that generally get made fun of the most. Not least of which is because they made up a word to describe people who eat meat when such a word already existed, just to use it as a slur.
Why exclude one group from humor? As long as the humor is not derogatory
It's basically one or two posts a day, so a bit more than just including them. OP has a grudge against vegans, which is weird in it's own right.
The main problem I think is that OP ran out of funny vegan comics a long time ago, so what is left is bottom of the barrel quality. This comic for instance is not remotely funny and it's a pattern at this point, none of them are.
I don't think anything has to be "done" about it, it's more embarrassing than anything at this point. I think it's a good idea to call him out though, so new users understand the situation and don't get the impression Lemmy is anti vegan or something.
I understand. Thank you for clarifying.
By all means.
Just, y'know, be clever about it.
OK what are these other groups? Redheads, handicapped, foreigners, women, fat people, small people?
What are these groups that should be made fun of?
You are reasoning like a true sociopath.
Making fun of people for doing the morally correct thing is simply wrong.
I say everyone and you go for minorities. "Made fun of" was poor choice of words but humor should be inclusive without being derogatory.
Everyone includes minorities. So maybe you should have excluded that instead of using such broad strokes.
Just include everyone without being derogatory, okay?
Now you are making zero sense, since the OP joke was clearly derogatory.
Comic is clearly intended to be over the top hyperbole. You'd have to be pretty thin skinned to be offended by that. No one is going to think "dumb vegas eat living trees" based on this comic.
you're the one proposing these topics. this is sociopathic reasoning.
That is not reasoning, but examples of other groups people make fun of.
You are failing basic logic, and failing to answer the question.
That was what I responded to. Because that means making fun of the above groups too.
But maybe you too is ~~a sociopath~~ extremely insensitive?
your edit is even more unhinged.
Unhinged from what?
If I'm unhinged, it's because I find you "extremely insensitive" towards people that may stick out for whatever reason.
Edit: Trying to be less "unhinged".
unhinged from reality. you have no idea who I am. you are making up your own facts and claiming your thoughts belong to others.
I know what you wrote, and my response is based on that.
You obviously think it's OK to make fun of people for being Vegan, and think it's OK to make fun of people for other reasons too, like being a librarian.
That clearly makes you "insensitive".
Maybe you should consider why you think it's OK to behave in a way, that makes you look like that?
Try to image the situation where Trump made fun of a handicapped journalist, is that who you want to be?

Edit: Dialed it sown a little bit.
"You obviously think it’s OK to make fun of people for being Vegan"
you can't cite any evidence for this
Of course I can, it follows logically from your opposition to my post questioning it.
It is also logically in line with the fact that you suggest "librarian" as a better example than "foreigner".
Thinking those 2 posts make sense and are OK, but the examples I gave you consider sociopathic, shows you can't really distinguish between what is OK and what is not.
"it follows logically from your opposition to my post questioning it."
no, you're making a leap of logic.
... and you came up with those groups. you could have picked hipsters, librarians, and beer snobs.
I could, but those examples are not equivalent except for librarians.
Nobody calls themselves hipster or beer snob.
If I call you, for argument sake, a humourless idiot, am I still allowed to make fun of humourless idiots?
Yes. I don't see how that could be offensive, because I don't think anybody identify as humorless idiots. So go right ahead.
There's a huge difference between targeting a demographic that exist and one that kind of doesn't really.
But apparently you don't have the intellectual capacity to understand that.
Obviously I don't identify as a humorless idiot. I even noted the drawings are kind of funny, it's the joke that isn't.
But they both exist and overlap to the huge extent, so...
