pulled my caravan down to devon, enjoying the sun, the beer, the cider and the countryside roads.

Living the dream!
Up and down. Something shameful that I'd done in the past is coming back to bite me, and I'm keeping my head down, guard up, and not looking anyone in the eye. In the long scheme of things, it's not that bad, but still, everyone knows.
On the otherhand I rekindled my love of javascript, and started working on a game that I seem to be quite passionate about. Potential future revenue stream depending on popularity (I just need one obsessive whale to make a one-off payment of £100,000 and I'll be set for life).
Nice. It's funny the way blue skies and sunshine makes everything so much better. Got away to a mate's place for Saturday and Sunday. Ostensibly I was there to help him install some boat electronics on his sailing boat, but when we got that done, we had some nice food and a few beers. As a full-time carer, it was lovely to get away for a night and clear my head a little.
Full tilt gardening this weekend setting up a second waterbutt with a solar pump for the front garden and setting up an automated irragation loop for the back.
Tried completing my current Bike build just the headstock left, but it can't be bodged and I need new parts so that's delayed for a bit.
Need another 4 days tbh
Good weekend, although lots of tidying up and getting ready for some building work. Spent some time down by the river over lunch on Saturday.
The week was busy - we are over stretched at work and I could do with more people!
Can't complain.
The weather improving means I, as a pasty ginger, have to start deploying my vampire-grade sun protection. Seems to be working fine so far.
I had to be at my brother's most of Monday to accept a shower tray ("sorry mate, we aren't insured to go inside", cue dragging the sodding thing into the garage), be there when the kids got in and wait for my SIL to get home at 6ish. So I took a boom, the craptop (need a new or refurbished laptop) and managed to box off Adolescence as they've got Netflix (managed to watch it in the wrong order as I don't have Netflix but I don't think it mattered much).
Managed to avoid the bulk of the Grand National madness that dominates this weekend up here, although more from luck, not judgement.
Went to a friend's for his and his daughter's birthdays (she was born on his birthday, so he hasn't had his own birthday in 21 years now) and it was nice to catch up with people I've not seen in a while (one woman I haven't talked to in 25 years). There was some drunken shenanigans and I suspect a few frosty receptions from spouses today (my best friend's wife was threatening to throw up in my car all the way home but saved it for when they got back - he didn't sound best pleased when he informed me of this as 2:45 this morning).
Downsides: managed to injure my right hand twice this week because I am very clumsy. Nothing serious but a bit sore.
So a good week all told.
drunken shenanigans
Is your old friendship group as shameless as mine is
Pretty much - most of us have known each other since school and have aged disgracefully. That said, the drunkest had reasons - one guy had been to the match, so started drinking at 10:30, so was distinctly tiddly by the time his partner arrived; my friend's wife had had a bad day at work so threw it down and wasn't helped by not eating enough, plus some heavy-handed measures of gin and Kraken.
Overall pretty good, but inexplicably exhausting - but then, I'm getting older and everything is inexplicably exhausting half the time.
Meal out with friends, car washed and headlight fixed, went to see a Bach choral performance complete with theorbo and crumhorns - there's posh. There is a haze of green on the branches now, and the blue-tits are definitely building in the nestbox.

Yes, I've been working on my endurance but sometimes I'm just wiped out and end up waking up in my chair at ungodly hours in the morning sure I just sat down for a moment. Not helped by coming off a fortnight long cough and cold which wiped me out and led to my brother giving me a talking to about not dying (which I am actively working on, I've been successful so far).
Went to a party last night with a lot of old friends, many going back to school days, and a lot of the chat was how knackered everyone's bodies were - especially the runners and those who've had cancer treatments.

I noticed this week how magnificent the magnolias were looking and the cherry trees are close to going into full bloom.
It's been fine! Enjoying the sunny weather, that always improves my mood.
I work from home normally but went into the office in Manchester so our team could meet a new starter, had a decent lunch and beer paid for by work, sitting out in the sun, so can't complain!
I've started running again after a 3 week break due to an op, and it's felt like I've not run in about a year, it's quite disheartening. Just doing a slow, level 5k brings my heart rate up to levels I wouldn't see unless I was going hard up a big hill. I was aiming to be hitting 21k soon but just 5k feels like effort. I'll persevere though, hopefully I'll be back to where I was after a few more runs.
Cut the grass today, spent some time at the park with my daughter and watched the Japanese F1 GP.
I'm definitely glad we have sunnier weather now, and yeah I think it improves my mood as well.
I didn't watch the F1 but I saw the result. If Norris had been on pole I might have watched it. I just hope somebody new wins the championship this year.
In regards to the F1:
spoiler
It was an incredibly boring race. Literally nothing happened. The top 10 stayed in the same order, except for Hamilton and Hadjar swapping around. They showed the highlights in the cool down room and Piastri was like "that was it?"
I think one of the McLaren drivers have a good chance to win. Even though Max won yesterday, it felt more like an exception and the low deg of the new surface helped Max to maintain his lead.
Yeah that's pretty much what I read about the race. Hopefully Norris or Piastri can win the championship this year. I'd also be happy if Russell won it although that's probably not likely.
Been a decent week, although I’m still isolating myself from friends because I’m a silly billy. Trying to be thankful I have a roof over my head and food on the table and that helps me put my troubles into perspective.
Our daughter was visiting, so that was nice. I made decent progress on a new decking in the back garden, which was also nice, but on the flip side I’m now exhausted.
On the upside, when it is done, you'll be able to sit out on it and relax.
