I wholeheartedly agree. Provence is so pretty and the "Gorges du Verdon" are stunning.

This is a prime example of why patriarchy is hurting men too, because what this guy is saying boils down to:

  • We can make them work at any hour of the day because who cares if these guys have any life outside work?
  • We don't have to do any work management, we just call those guys
  • We can send them wherever, whenever
  • We can create a toxic work environment and it's okay to treat guys like shit
  • And those guys don't even complain because they need this job so bad
    Isn't it great?

The statement about "workplace laws" is so telling: Yeah, who cares about treating men with respect and dignity!?
It's not just about discriminating against women, it's also about mistreating men. That's what patriarchy is at its core: Pit men and women against each other and then reap the benefits. It's a "divide and conquer strategy".

Description: A three panel comic. In the first picture a caption says "As a cis person, you have to try really hard to be your assigned gender." A smiling stick figure responds with "OK." In the second picture a caption says "As a trans person, you have to try really hard to be your true gender." The same smiling stick figure responds with "OK." once more. In the last picture the caption says "What if you let go instead?" The stick figure stares with eyes wide open.

This one made a serious crack in my egg back in the day.

The internet is flooded with AI-generated images in the style of Studio Ghibli, whose founder said “I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all.”

Obligatory footnote: EvoPsych is mostly bunk, deeply intertwined with eugenics and riddled with homophobia, sexism and rape apologia.

The stock went down when Tesla's sales numbers for the first quarter of 2025 got out and showed a decrease of sold vehicles, on top of Musk's shenanigans and the protests at Tesla showrooms. Now these events have been "priced in" and the stock operates on vague estimates and wishful thinking again until the next slew of substantial bad news hits, at the latest when the next quarterly numbers are due.

Back when the mod team of c/Ghazi decided to leave Reddit and moved to Blahaj.Zone's Lemmy, the strict moderation was one of the reasons we did so: Vocal minorities can far too easily spoil the enjoyment for everybody else. A tight moderation is the only way to prevent that from happening and personally I am glad to be a part of Blahaj.Zone

Thanks to Ada, Supakaity, all the mods of the communities on Blahaj.Zone and everybody else around here for making it such a unique site!

This wider angle shot shows the location of the castle above the river Loire and the village of the same name at the bottom of the castle.

The first testimony of a stone-built castle in this location dates back to the 11th century, though earlier fortifications in this spot are likely. The castle was of relatively low strategic importance and thus mostly served as a residence for various local noble families. It was sold in the 17th century and the new owners lamented its "pitiful state". They renovated it, but left most of the medieval buildings intact. Though it changed hands several times afterwards and its original furniture was sold, it remains one of the most well-preserved medieval castle in the upper Loire valley.

You do not need to patch your game over this

This feminist retelling of traditional Japanese ghost stories uses transformation as a key element both for character growth and commentary on ancient and modern gender expectations.

The river hides behind the trees. This photo shows a view from below.

A castle was first mentioned in 9th century. It ownership was disputed for a long time and it was destroyed no less than five times during 1214 and 1606, but quickly rebuilt each time. The remaining buildings date to the 17th century, but modifications were made up until the 20th century. The castle made headlines in the 1980s as the residency of Ghaith Pharaon, a saudi-arabien business man who was involved in various scandals. He (at the same time) had business connections with the Bush family and Al-Qaeda. He fled to Lebanon in the early 2000s after the US attempted to get him extradited.

I think a part of the answer there is: White people did not expect to be treated the way PoC already are.

Last week, we had the news of the detention at the US/Canadian border of Welsh comic maker Becky Burke. But what about the wider implications for comic makers travelling to the US or Canada? Well, it’s not good.

Germany is nobody's friend. But definitely not of anyone who dares to point out German hypocrisy. 🤮

What started off as a rage bait meme is now a real thing. People loud and proud claiming they voted for trump & are punk. Today we will explore this concept, looking at how historically the right wing have co-opted subcultures and why they are typically never welcomed by traditional members of these subcultures.

The image is hosted on Catbox.Moe and I have been told that it does not work well for some people on Lemmy. (I upload it to Catbox.Moe because - in turn - Blahaj.Zone often makes it difficult for me to upload images.)
