International border barriers everywhere are harming wildlife by bisecting their habitats, disrupting their hunting and collecting patterns and preventing them from commingling. In some cases, the borders are causing so much harm that they could cause certain species to go extinct.

The literature review, which analyzed 42 studies on wildlife and borders by scientists across the globe, was part of a special issue on addressing land degradation.

Scientists at UNIL and Unisanté classified 35 commonly used drugs in Switzerland based on their impact on the aquatic biodiversity. The aim of this research is to provide medical staff with a tool for considering the environmental risks associated with certain common drugs when prescribing them. The proposed list is subject to change when new data become available, their rarity being a limiting factor for classification.

By the 17th century, it wasn’t just God who could create a vacuum. Physicists Evangelista Torricelli and Blaise Pascal had also managed it using a mercury barometer. But had they really created nothing?

Great you pointed that bioRxiv does preprints, and not peer reviewed articles.

Personally, I found this theory interesting and thought of sharing it. Let's see where the scientific consensus will lean towards on this matter.

Le Pen has also been given a €100,000 (£82,635) fine.

Only? I thought that the European parliament estimated the embezzled funds amounted to about €7m.

Or according to this article:

saw the embezzlement of €2.9m worth of European funds.

what can we influence?

Everything and I think it's a process. We influence what we can in all scales, large, small, etc. The more we do this, the more we evolve and the better we get at it. And there is room for all sort of approaches. I mean, we get better at it regardless of a specific approach. Something like that.

Amazon Restore is a great name! By looking around in their website it seemed to me like an interesting project.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to find out who they are, or at least how they organise, and how they get money for this effort. If you have better luck on these topics, please share the links.

This is a very weird article, so I thought of taking a look at the author. Michael Barnard has been writing in the past for Forbes magazine, is the co-founder of a couple of start-ups, and is the Chief Strategist of The Future Is Electric or TFIE Strategy Inc. It looks like:

TFIE’s mission is to ensure that as much of the trillions spent on climate solutions in the coming decades is spent intelligently, wisely and quickly.

Michael Barnard spends his time projecting scenarios for decarbonization 40-80 years into the future, and assisting executives, boards and investors to pick wisely today.

I have the impression that he is simply not invested to geothermal. If anyone has got more info, please share.
