I work at an AI datacenter and the houses 50 meters away just think it's a generic square building

You don't see any sexism and you think bears don't kill people. Reddit isn't sending their best here are they?

You must be trolling. Otherwise I'm kind of jealous how blissfully unaware you are of how the world works.

This thread has been great at definitively identifying the sexists of lemmy. There sure are a lot of you.

Anyone who partakes in man vs bear debate is a sexist. It's perfectly designed rage bait.

Anyone who thinks men are more dangerous than bears are either sexist or uneducated.

You should have this conversation with a woman who actually spends time in the back country. Someone who has personally had a close call with a bear before.

I've almost been killed by a bear before but you don't care and won't listen to a word I say because I'm a man.

If you encountered as many bears as you did men, you wouldn't be alive lol.

This debate is garbage though. You'll never get close to a bear in your entire life so having this conversation with you is pointless

Same thing with male only spaces. They wouldn't hang out there if they weren't sexist.

Anyone who says this has literally never encountered a bear before

I've been charged and nearly killed by a grizzly near Nordegg AB like 10 years ago. Bear spray did nothing.

Hundreds upon hundreds of humans met on the trail and none have tried to kill me.

Social media is what started the datacenter rush.

I fell in love with an eclectus parrot at a bird sanctuary recently and I had no idea these guys existed. They are so chill and I just want one now lol. I was talking to him and all he said to me after I asked him something was "huh?" and it was such a vibe.

I'm a 30 year old man with not much going on in life, recently divorced with major trust issues now and I have never even thought of the possibility of owning a parrot one day but maybe it is actually a good idea? It lives for like 30 years which is probably about how much longer I will live. All I eat is fruit and veggies so I think taking care of it would actually be pretty easy.

From my research it seems like they generally don't like to be handled much and are just content to chill in the corner of the room while you do your thing. My condo has a room with 18ft ceilings and eclectus are usually super quiet and aren't very destructive supposedly.

I was thinking about getting a cat but honestly a parrot is just way more affectionate, intelligent, and interesting.

Anyone weigh in on this topic?

Also is it possible to teach a parrot to speak like RFK Jr?

From my great uncle, this hat was made in calgary around 100 years ago and it's done the chilkoot trail, paddled to dawson city, has surely been stomped into cow shit before, etc

Yes my uncle killed that bear with his bare fists

I got divorced like 5 months ago after a 9 years with this girl who cheated on me, emotionally abused me, etc etc

I've been suicidal since the split, getting worse by the day still, and literally nobody ever asked if I was OK, aside from my mom. Even when I begged close friends for support they basically just ghosted me. My ex is surrounded by support, from the same people who I thought were my best friends.

Do I just have shitty people around me or is this just what guys deal with? The attitude towards me is just "get over it". I've lost almost everyone I'm close to because of this and I'm starting to think there might actually be one viable option of getting over it because existing is simply torture. All of 2025 felt like just a bad dream but it's unfortunately real.

Edit: Yes I have a counselor - a very good one I see weekly.

I just sent this email to my MP and you should too.

Dear Mrs. Elizabeth May,

I’m writing to propose something that might sound crazy at first—but I believe it's an idea worth serious national conversation: the Government of Canada should buy Tim Hortons and nationalize it.

Tim Hortons is undeniably a Canadian symbol. It’s been part of our shared national experience for decades. But the reality is, it’s not a Canadian company anymore. Since being sold to a foreign parent company, it’s felt less and less like the Tim Hortons we all grew up with.

It’s not just about ownership. It doesn’t employ Canadians like it used to—especially seniors, who often worked there part-time and genuinely loved the social connection and dignity that came with that work. Now, many of those jobs have disappeared or changed beyond recognition.

Visitors from around the world still come here excited to try “Tims,” thinking they’re about to experience something uniquely Canadian. What they often get instead is low-quality food and a disorganized, underpaid workforce. It reflects badly—not just on the company, but on Canada itself.

Nationalizing Tim Hortons could restore pride in something we all grew up with. It could mean better jobs, higher standards, and a stronger connection to Canadian communities and culture.

I hope you’ll consider raising this idea with your colleagues. At the very least, it’s time we started talking seriously about what we want our national institutions—including cultural icons like Tim Hortons—to look like.

Sincerely,

My name Address Phone number
