I'm not 100% on ladybug lookalikes but yeah, that for sure looks like the Asian lady beetle to me. They're not the most harmful thing and were intentionally released in the U.S. to control aphids. I can't advise more sadly.

It's hard to tell on my phone from the pics, but those shells look orange, not red. Those might be Asian Lady Beetles and are an invasive pest. They try to crawl into homes about this time of year to overwinter.

The not being available on any boggled my mind every time. There's several shows I've wanted to watch that just straight up don't exist anywhere anymore. Like I'm willing to give you money for a month or two so I can watch them or just rent but I can't. It's so crazy

I call mine "Magikarp" when she flops around in her sleep and hits me. She, uh, is not amused with the nickname, lol.

Do they not have update test beds? I feel like this is such an important system they should have caught this. It's not some obscure feature.

Different person but it's really not a big deal. I've created a username for my friends, and they for me on theirs. Easy as pie.

I keep a local backup just in case something happens, just setup vps again and go. I use nginx to force https, and go. I've also limited to US, Canadian, and U.K. ips only so pretty much never see unusual activity trying to access it (if I ever share with someone elsewhere I'll whitelist their specific IP).

I'm also running full IPv6 which just worked.

Edited to add: I only share with trusted friends who I know won't two and delete the database or something. Just use basic security and you're good.

Have you played Expedition 33? Would love to see more like that. Not necessarily the dark souls-esque dodge timing, but that willingness to tweak the genre

Because they don't think these things are neat. They like anything bland and gold. They want everyone to like the exact same stuff so you know exactly how much more theirs cost. They want you consuming exactly the same things so they can control people through the product.

Individuality and humanity run directly counter to their power.

It's not always about the user count though. It's about your end goals. There's two types of social engineering. Mass and targeted. You're focusing on the mass social engineering.

Say you want specific information on how Crowdstrike works. You could launch a massive social engineering campaign on Twitter but if you don't catch any of the engineers who work at Crowdstrike then what's the point? You just spent all that money for nothing. It would be better to find where those engineers socialize online and try to inject yourself there, doesn't matter the size of that community and it could very well be on Lemmy in one of the programmer communities.

Now if you want to convince the entire world of something then yeah, focus on the big user counts, don't worry about the small fry communities. It's all about your end goal.

That's an artificial distinction some grammarians decided to put into textbooks in the 1700s. Many many people use lie and lay interchangeably and the thing about language is how people use it is how it's defined.

I've had a tradition for years. Anyone who visits my house for the first time has to do a shot of MalΓΆrt with me. Best bonding exercise I've found
