Yeah but Lemmy is a link aggregator with social media elements like comments and "likes", it's more post based than people based, you can't follow users for example etc, there are fediverse equivalents of Facebook like diaspora or friendica, even mastodon is more people people oriented than Lemmy

isn't it just a new way to access screen based search? i mean, i can do things you tak about by launching google assistant (non-gemini) and choosing "search on my screen", i use it daily to translate difficult japanese in my dulingo, select text and search on my non-pixel/samsung phone, it' there since few years AFAIK, i don't think it's going anywhere, because reverse image search is the future, also you're training their neural networks that way(👉゚ヮ゚)👉

Not at all, it makes it simpler, in many cases you don't even need it or is even simpler to convey the gender in other ways

Using light to communicate has a pretty long history, you just blink lights in a pattern, same as electric signals just without a wire, I mean you can use a "wire" to make light go further (optical fiber), you send zeros and ones by turning the laser on and off, that's all, optical audio connections came to the market in 1983, the undersea internet cable are optical etc, you can blink a flashlight in Morse code and it's a light based communication, swap flashlight with a laser and you have "an information in a laser beam", that's all, you want to send more info faster just blink faster

i'm fresh with this kind of adventures, bought new m.2 ssd, USB enclosure, yesterday i cloned old one to the new one (1TB Crucial P1 -> 2TB Kingston KC3000, both "come with" Acronis, so i used it), popped the new one in and BOOM, INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE, tried some workarounds but i ended up just installing new windows copy, welp it might be actually better solution because it's clean install obviously, but i'm just lazy:)

Until AI models on the device will become a standard I really doubt you'll find a viable alternative, since then it will always be someone's server you send your pictures to, it's the matter of who you trust more, a well established corporation which will profit from your content or some shady company/startup that will do the same but in less controlled environment

my point was to point out that most white women (that voted) voted on Trump, I'd argue it's more valid than "Not all of them", of course not all of them voted like that, that's what democratic voting is all about, majority won, majority of white women voters voted for Trump
