We have a children bicycle with a belt drivetrain and it has been super smooth without maintenance so far. I have cycled one for adults too and it's nice. A bit more quiet. There is also no oil so no oil stains either. I vaguely recall they had a hair more friction losses than a chain drive but you'd have to research to be sure.

In Europe electric planes may fly with less reserve. I think this is to help kick start innovation. I suppose they get priority for landing if necessary. This makes at least one of these electric aircraft ok for training sessions so there is a practical use.

I don't know about warranty but they have an extensive parts list. I just replaced the battery on a laptop I bought 5 years or so ago from them.

I have a cheap power supply which can be limited in current and voltage and I've been able to revive many such batteries with it. I use it as a drip charger limiting current and voltage so neither gets too high until the regular charger picks up the battery again.

I would ask in the e/OS forum. The old thread was tagged with FP5. Scanning through the forum I also found a mention to mail support for a question related to reselling. You could reach out through https://murena.com/contact-us/ directly.

I have no comparison but was in a similar boat when the FP5 launched. I was not sure how long my phone's cracked display would last. I installed e/OS manually at the time (a beta release) and can't remember any substantial issues. I can't compare with a preinstalled version because I did not order that.

I think there's a forum. Perhaps ask there if they know when they'll be back in stock?

Not that I know of. I don't use any Google apps so I would not know of those. My bank app works. I use OSM& for maps but OrganicMaps is nicer. e/OS ships with MagicEarth which worked fine but is not FOSS. Search for locations (eg: shops) is infinitely better on Google Maps but I'm happy not to be stalked anymore.

Sometimes apps from the Play Store stop updating. It seems they find workarounds and get that running again after a while so then updates come through again. Has not been an issue so far. There's also no Google Assistant and I have not found a good AI helper based on speech.

All in all it's a good experience and I'm super happy I can use it. It just feels so much better to have a phone which blocks trackers in apps and not being spied on.

Holding a stock phone will feel like holding poop afterwards though. Like, you can hold it and wash your hands after, I guess, but you don't want to touch it unless you really have to. It's just dirty.

Use it as a daily driver. Works fine. Feels much more hygienic than stock Android.

Looks like you're right. Global HQ in Sydney and US HQ in San Francisco as per Wikipedia. Same feeling on acceptance though.

Thanks for the information, I did not know!

It feels like people gave up. I hear many many people complain about it similarly to complaining about the weather. As if you can't do anything about it anyways. Jira gives off a similar vibe. Hard to find anything bad about Teams on Microsoft Bing powered DuckDuckGo so perhaps just my close circle.

Addition: For video conf Jitsi and BigBlueButton work great for us when we can choose. Sadly it is often blocked by admins in large organisations.

Yes, you have to download the local area. Processing happens on your phone.

Organic Maps is a bit smoother to get started with but I'm very happy with OSM& now I have it set up as I want and was also glad to have it when renting a boat on vacation. If you're new, try Organic Maps first.

noisetorch does an ok job for video conferences and works on your speaker (easier on you) and on your microphone (easier on them). We often use it to limit keyboard noise during meetings.
