Awesome! Thanks for that, always adding new sci-fi to my library

You mention "the builders", and that brought me to this series. Ring a bell?

Who knows! It wasn't going to be hard sci-fi necessarily, but more food for thought. Not everything in sci-fi has proven scientific stuff behind it. They travel faster than light in Star Trek and Star Wars...

We weren't, and that's probably why we didn't question the idea too much 😅
Oh snap! That does sound eerily similar. Probably written before we had our idea, and I'm sure it is far more well written than what I could have done.
I'll keep my eyes open for it!
From the article:
Launched in March this year, Project Ensemble is the HKMA’s wholesale central bank digital currency (wCBDC) project aimed at fostering the development of tokenization in Hong Kong.
The article also talks about how this is an experimental thing in Hong Kong. It's a testing environment, not a production case.
A while ago a coworker and I had an idea for a sci-fi novel that was similar in idea to this.
Essentially humanity sent out these probes that were in effect giant mirrors (pointed at Earth) that reflected light information back to us. The further out they go, the further back in time we get images/video of. We never went anywhere with it, but I thought it would have been neat to explore what happens to immediate political tensions since hard evidence of more recent events, never seen before, would return to Earth first before we even found out the origin of our species.
Although you're right, he is definitely full of shit, I think there are more people flushing multiple times than you think. It's not because of water pressure or plumbing, it's their diet.
Presumably you're talking about CBDCs, but it's not what you claim. It's a state issued currency from a central bank and only some countries have adopted it, while others have rejected it. It is not applied across the board or used to transfer/exchange currencies in any way. A lot of them also do not even use distributed ledgers or blockchain. In the USA, some states have even banned the use of CBDCs.
And I think with the advent of AI, the amount of energy crypto consumes is probably not as big of a deal anymore. Don't get me wrong, it's still an issue, I'm just saying in comparison to what AI will use it's probably negligible.
I guess that's the American way. Forget about your self-created problems with much larger self-created problems.
I agree with you. One possible way to rectify the meme is to change "determined by" to "adapting to" or something along those lines. I think that's what the meme is actually trying to say, but used the wrong words.
Indeed, the least we can do is not give them any traffic and support the archives
The Waltons and Bezos would probably have Trump commit suicide before they let that happen. They like their money more than him, I'm pretty sure.
