While I would love to agree with you, the way I read the 14th amendment is that the government can not do anything (or pass any laws) that would deprive you of those rights. It does not imply (in my opinion) that they are required to do things to ensure you have those rights.

Lol, some movies only back a small change to be improved. Take Passengers as an example, simply have Jennifer Lawrence choose to wake a passenger and cut there. None of the passengers waking up to everything bring all green crap
Sometimes I feel like I'm still the only person who still uses it. I'm teaching my daughter the proper way to use it because the schools aren't.

Not to be a jerk, but I'd argue everyone is born ignorant due to an inherent lack of knowledge. Ignorance can be rectified through education. I would also argue that everyone is born with varying levels of intelligence and ability; so not everyone is stupid but there are those who are, unfortunately. Stupid and ignorant mean very different things, even though they get colloquially misused often.
