As a person from a Ukrainian immigrant family who's mom is theblast to speak the language, that is just painfully sad. The language is such an important part of the culture and to deny it's existence even to yourself is just sad

It is, just looks up the guys name and what the field of IO is. If you look at my comment history you'll see I've spoken about my field many times. It is pretty embarrassing.

Oh fuck not this guy leaving containment and ending up on Lemmy of all places.

Ok so this guy is in my field and is 100% the grandpa he appears to be. The worst part thought is that if you catched this, he talked about a career in "I-O". Most of you probably don't know what he's talking about, but he's referring to the field of "Industrial and Organizational Psychology" which is the study of people within organizations. What makes this extra bad is that we actually are the ones who study stuff like "how to conduct ethical and high quality interviews". So he basically violated about everything we recommend in our field why doing this and publishing it. Its honestly embarrassing that this will be many of your first impressions of my profession.

Also the comments are roasting him so badly OP as the comments are likely filled with people who are experts in the subject, so its a deep roast

I think you'll enjoy either game really if you end up liking the setting. They are great ways to get introduced as most other options (besides books)focus just on gameplay with setting and story being an afterthought.

I doubt they will connect as I'm fairly certain they take part in different sections of the galaxy

Yeah, having an abundance of nuclear power is good regardless of the economic system as long as it's done safely.

Oh, I personally love to see it. It's how we bridge the gap of academia and the real world. There are many things that people feel or experience but don't have the language to discuss, but once they do it can be very empowering. If you're familiar with urban planning discours online then you've maybe heard of the word "stroad" describing the horrible 6 lane + type roads in much of the US filled with stripmalls. Being on one you can get this feeling of alienation and artificiality, like something isn't right. However once you have a name for it, you can now discuss and advocate to change the "stroad".

This person is just describing the psychological factors underpinning self-determination theory as it applies to work but without the language to convey it: https://selfdeterminationtheory.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/2017_DeciOlafsenRyan_annurev-orgpsych.pdf

Well yeah any economic system requires government oversight to be effective but that's because there isn't really a decoupling of government and economics. Our current governments around the world are primarily representative democratic nation states and they are neoliberal capitalist institutions. These are not separate, both have evolved alongside each other and we are currently seeing them crack under pressure together. There is no point in making this distinction at the macro level.

I think they mean it more in the sense of "this lack of money at 93 is not the fault of the individual as there is no means for them to continue to bring in income" not "put her in the mines'
