One of the pillars that the republicans keep claiming is that they will sell everyone out for the sake of businesses, and therefore, obviously, they will make the numbers go up better than those democrats that will sap money out of the economy to pay for useless stuff like basic human needs to those that need it.

Now you have a republican president who has:

• Not cut any taxes
• Imposed way more taxes
• Tanked the markets
• Tanked so many government benefits

It was already provably false (going back 30 years, the only prolonged 'numbers go down' have been both of Bush Jr's terms and Trump's second term), the best republican term was Trump's first and it's no better than any democrat term for the past 30 years.

So there are some people who are either fine with the racism and sexism (or don't believe/in denial about that as made up) for the sake of better personal financial fortune, and democrats have never convinced those folks that republicans actually don't have any track record to support that superstition. Trump has at least proven that he isn't good, and worse he is allowed to unilaterally act by a broader party that is afraid to conflict him.

Not sure. There's a full blown white male military guy I know through work. He's an openly hateful and racist person. Like not even pretending he isn't. He still is pissed at Trump over being incompetent and disrespectful to soldiers.

Since his term began, my retirement has probably slipped about a year or so, and so much further to go.

Campaign ads have already started for the Senate race in my state.

But his particular sore loser attitude didn't kick in until he lost the 2020 election. In fact in 2016 he was high on accusing Clinton of being a sore loser, for no particularly good reason. He loved calling out a sore loser until he lost.

He had plenty of bad behaviors, but being a sore political loser wasn't one of them at that point.

It's at least fair to point out that he didn't donate $25M, but he did donate $2M. I'm half surprised that Musk or someone didn't accuse Soros of buying the election with zero whiff of irony.

Evidently the family had said she had a history, so they would have had to be playing a long game. I suppose they could have been opportunistic about her condition to make a plausible death, but a plausible death to someone no longer involved in any inconvenient cases doesn't help any such cases nor does it "send a message".

Sometimes things just happen.

I think his point is that humans are meaningless little things made just to be in the image of "God" and should "get over themselves" since it's all about God and not at all about humanity.

Seemingly, that somehow doesn't apply to having him shut up and stop making it about himself.

Yeah, I came across some article he wrote. He basically said if he hates someone, they deserve it because god says so, and if anyone disagrees with him, they are making it about "them" and not Jesus.

He evidently (understandably) got blowback on Twitter back in the day, and wrote some word vomit that sums up to "No no, you don't understand, what I said is not as bad as you think it is (it's sooooo much worse)"

Notably, I don't think folks would consider Christian teaching would not explicitly declare that you should hate (that part is usually just implied).

Generally what they say is that while you shouldn't just yield and let "bad" people walk all over you and society, you shouldn't "hate" them either.
