According to the article, it's been enforced since 2017. Is there a CETA 2 or something?

Fields of the Nephelim. Just don't get all the fuss about them.

Not so great. Recent changes heavily restrict the right to protest, for example.

In work environments, I dress semi formal - smart button down shirt etc. - but with significant black and purple tones. I usually keep my rings on. My style inspiration is recent Nick Cave.

Family... are just about used to me being weird.

1, 4, 12 or 18 depending on my mood and whether I'm working.

To be fair, he's dead, so there's not that much current news.

Used to wear them several times a year - clubbing and WGT. I put on a little of weight during covid and... yeah, I'm also a 50 something bloke. I can't really pull off 'that look' anymore...

I was getting disappointed with the quality of Converse boots before this whole thing kicked off. My partner suggested I try the French brand Paladium. The quality is much better. Apparently, the French paras use them. All I can say is they are more comfortable and last longer than my Converse ever did.

The shitshow in the Whitehouse yesterday really brought it to light - the U.S. can no longer be trusted with our secrets. Its time to leave 5 eyes. I would create a new intelligence sharing union with the other 3 members, on condition that they also leave. Inviting France and other EU states might also make sense.

I have lots of trouble with my Sony XM1000XM4 headphones since the Plasma 6 update. I'm pretty sure the pipewire was updated to version 2 at the same time I pulled the KDE upgrade.

At first the issues were manageable, but annoying: If I switched from listening to music to headset mode to take a call in Google Meet, the microphone didn't work. If I switched to headphone mode and then back again to headset mode, the microphone worked again. I could continue using bluetooth with this workaround.

Recently, the situation has got much worse - I can't get the microphone to work at all, and the sound will also stop working randomly. My workaround now is to connect my headphones to the audio out of my laptop.

I've checked pipewire logs and the only things I saw were xrun warnings, which I don't believe would break everything completely.

Does anyone have similar issues or debugging tips? I've tried Googling/Duck Duck Going this for months, and I've not found anyone with similar symptoms.

This cartoon was printed 110 years ago today on September 1, 1914.

World War 1 was in progress, though it wasn't called that yet. On the Western Front, Imperial Germany's invasion was underway and the French and British armies had been in retreat for almost a week. Among the engagements of this day was a skirmish near Néry, where a dismounted British cavalry division fought a dismounted German cavalry division. The outnumbered British forces prevailed, and three British soldiers were later awarded the prestigious Victoria Cross. The French and British forces continued to retreat, but they were doing so in an orderly manner, and in a few days they would be ready to counterattack in one of the most significant battles of the century.

Meanwhile, in rapidly-urbanizing America, Everett True was beginning to wonder if cars were a good idea after all.

A species of owl which usually breeds in Scotland and Russia has produced a brood in an area of Kent for the first time in five years.

Short-eared owls have reared two broods at Elmley Nature Reserve, on the Isle of Sheppey.

The birds often stay at the site for winter before heading north during summer, but weather conditions and food abundance has seen them stay put on Sheppey.
