I think it’s because the United States is a large place and it helps place the region/culture they’re from specifically.

Yes, our US hotel industry has mostly been monopolized by Wyndham and a few other companies. They all build large hotels with the same layout. If you try and go under that price point you get stuck with motels, which have mostly been phased out by our culture from taboo & cleanliness anecdotes. Definitely a far fetch from the experience in Europe and other places. The closest we get is Airbnb like set-ups of personal homes rented out.

I love it but I want to see the really over the top late 80s stuff!

I agree but I believe that’s why his underlings are using him as a front to destroy all checks and balances so when he does fizzle out, they can keep control.

He certainly has a lot of enemies but I don’t think it’s likely with his upped security being President again. I still can’t believe we were an inch short of a Trump free world…

I second Truenas scale. Simple set up, good support, runs docker apps, can dig into command line if you so please or just use the GUI

I think it’s cool. Just another Mario kart game. Updated graphics and world exploring is neat. I would be loving this game if I was 10. In my thirties? Nah. $$$

Can’t believe they are following through with releasing this. They will cancel complete looney tune movies but not one as problematic at this? I figured this project was done before post even started

Hi everyone, I am running truenas scale on a modest home NAS. I have got some of my services tunneling to some subdomains via cloud flare zero trust and it seems to be fine. I am looking for advice on how to self host a blog and if I can continue that same method. It would be great to run it to the main domain instead of a sub domain, but honestly I don’t care too much. I expect none to very little traffic. I am looking for an app that I can run relatively easy and makes blogging for myself (images + text) as frictionless as possible. I am having trouble finding a guide for this and any that I do are on running much older versions of truenas scale.

I have heard good things about Ghost but couldn’t get it installed properly. Is Wordpress my best bet? I read somewhere that it can be sketchy opening up Wordpress to the internet so I am apprehensive. Any advice?

Hi all, this is my first post on Lemmy so I apologize if I get the formatting wrong. I am a tech nerd with just enough knowledge to follow YouTube tutorials but never truly understand what I’m doing. I recently created my own truenas scale server using an Aoostar R7 case. I am becoming a dad very soon and my wife and I are looking for ways to share photos of our baby without selling her and biometrics to the big cloud in the sky. The idea of my future daughter being tracked without her consent since birth is really gross to me.

I am wondering if there is a good, relatively simple and friendly way to share photo albums with relatives (normies) that is private and perhaps temporary. Ideally, I could share a private/unlisted link of sorts. I do have an instance of Immich and tunneled it to a web url but I don’t know if it can share with outside users easily.

There are a few public iOS apps that I believe do this but I don’t trust their servers/privacy policies. Any ideas that aren’t a massive headache or require command line guru-status to run?
