Sure I was, but the noise was one of the things that made the show entertaining, to me. I guess I'm fairly alone in that regard, if a soundtrack on YouTube is the same as hearing a car on track.

I never considered how devastating the collapse of the Berlin wall must've been to some Americans. /s

love America because it doesn’t have kings

I'm not convinced a president who can act with greater impunity than a king in any modern monarchy is better.

I read that a lot, "we don't have a king, thank cod". Is it because you've seen what a hell hole e.g. the Scandinavian countries are? /s

A king in a modern monarchy is nothing more than a representative of the country. He cuts ribbons and holds encouraging speeches on New Year's. That's pretty much it.

The V10 era was peak F1 for a petrol head like me. It really was something special to hear a full field of those set off. Quite literally brought tears to my eyes.

The first V6/hybrid race I went to (Montreal 2014) I ended up leaving early, and one of the reasons was that one the things that really thrilled me about attending an F1 race was just.. gone.

Unless you unfold it (duh), the 9 fold has a smaller screen than the 9 pro.

Fwiw, I've had folding phones for a few years now and never had one break or begin to feel worn, but I'm sure millage will vary a lot depending on use.

Personally I love having the option to quickly get some more screen real estate. Perfect for spreadsheets, presentations, and video. Running things like remote desktop is also nicer. Having two apps side-by-side definitely has its' uses, e.g. I can look at that screenshot/thing someone sent me on slack while I'm typing up my reply (or browse Lemmy while "following" a dull work all hands).

I bought my first folding phone on a bit of a whim, pretty just because I wanted to check it out, but now I think I'd miss it a lot if I didn't have one.

A bit off topic; a friend of mine purchased a play mat for his kid, one of those you put on the floor with a birdseye view of roads, buildings etc., from wish (yeah, expectations weren't high to begin with). When it arrived he realized it was roughly 30 by 30 centimeters.

We went back and looked at the listing on wish, and while no dimensions were listed, the one image it had was of a kid sitting on the mat playing. That kid must've been less than 5 centimeters tall.

Same in Norwegian.

Looks like this one is a popular candidate for the longest official word:

Minoritetsladningsbærerdiffusjonskoeffisientmålingsapparatur.

It's an instrument for measuring the distance between particles in crystalline materials.

I did that a bit, for C64 games. I recall it being a mix of fun, tedious and extremely frustrating if there was even the slightest transmission interference while recording, then all you could do was wait for the next transmission and hope they went better.

They can seem deep asleep, but any step in the direction of the kitchen is closely monitored, always.

A walk in the forest, Eidsvoll, Norway, this July. The dogs are flat coated retrievers and absolutely adorable.

I have all of December off from work, where should I go?

I've not yet done any research whatsoever on this, and figured it would be fun to start off by asking you lot.

Is December even a good time to visit this part of the world, weatherwise?

I'll be traveling alone and I'm not looking for an action packed vacation. Beautiful scenery, tasty drinks and good food will do the trick. Beach vacations aren't normally my thing, but I think that's just what I'm in need of now.

Preferably somewhere I'm not in danger of getting robbed and stabbed every waking minute, too. That would be nice.

I'll be traveling from Norway, btw.
