I wish the movie was longer, even though the runtime is 2h20m.

Intel underwent a massive redesign of their mobile chips where something like the i5-8250U eventually met the performance of the i7-4702MQ (these are just examples from recent memory) at a fraction of the TDP. And 7th Gen U Intel had about the same single core performance so I’m not going to jerk the T480 train here. What I mean is that they used way less power and made way less heat. Benefits are fewer sweaty palms and more time away from an outlet. Yes, you may argue neither of those are important, but they are a major improvement in portability which OP mentioned.

The T14/P14s is so flimsy in build quality that I would skip the entire line. I would rather go through the annoying repair process to replace the keyboard on a T14s than actually own a T14 which flexes in your lap and in your hands.

X13/T14s are actually decent options due to choice of material. They’re hard to find because you have to find a configuration with a good display and 32GB. I still love my T480 though. I just can’t see why they chose such a light build with plastic to appeal to anyone besides their business customers.

They are not cheap and the 7 row keyboard is quite overrated. Literally any second hand computer for the same price would outperform it in every metric. You also have the problem of choosing between a 13 year old battery or a 3rd party battery.

I never had an XBOX or PS2. I went over to my friend’s house and he’d let me take a controller. I’m surprised this is considered retro now and I’m a little sad since I never got to play it.

Now I have Steam games I can’t find time or joy to play and with no one to play them with.

With 64GB all I can think of is a lot of memory for street map routing (OSRM). Otherwise, homelab it.

I call them after what service is running on it. E.g. openvpn.

Manufacturers refuse to use nanoguard in their electronics despite being like a dollar

I’ve never thought of it that way, lol. Tech Bros must just say and do whatever they think will earn them the most praise and money. I think that is why they raised that because it was being marketed as an “ultimate truck” even though when it panned out it was the complete opposite.

This is a ridiculous stance. A lot of people say stupid stuff on the internet and then mature and move on. A lot of us have the privilege of people (the entire world) not remembering what we said. I don’t think it’s right that he impressed on his viewers that those words are acceptable, but that doesn’t make him a nazi or racist in public or private. That dilutes the word further when there isn’t enough evidence to even suggest it’s true, ignores the fact that most of us are prejudiced more than we’d admit, and causes people to just ignore us when we aren’t making a reactionary standpoint on a real issue. I have never been a PewDiePie viewer nor do I think his content is interesting nor his move to Linux, but I hate to see Lemmy pinning him on a wall as if he’s responsible for an entire generation becoming radicalized with alt-right. I would blame Big Tech and algorithms.
