Austria’s public broadcaster, which will host the next Eurovision Song Contest, on Tuesday said it hoped Israel would be able to participate in the massive TV extravaganza, ahead of a key meeting next month.

The contest’s organizers, the European Broadcasting Union, said last month that Israel’s participation would be dealt with at its regular gathering in December, though it has remained mum on how exactly the decision will be made.

A growing number of countries have threatened to boycott the 2026 edition of the world’s biggest live music television event unless Israel is excluded over the war in Gaza.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A judge has dismissed a Trump administration legal challenge to New York policies that block immigration officials from arresting people at state courthouses, saying the federal government can’t force states to cooperate with those enforcement efforts.

U.S. District Judge Mae D’Agostino late Monday granted New York’s motion to dismiss the government’s lawsuit, one of several legal actions from the Republican administration targeting state and local policies over immigration enforcement.

As per FSF only these linux distributions are 100% free:

Dragora
Dyne
Guix
Hyperbola
Parabola
PureOS
Trisquel
Ututo
libreCMC
ProteanOS

Do you agree or not?

I see a lot of people that want to switch from windows to a linux distro or a open os. But from what i see they tend to migrate to another black boxed/closed os.

What is a trully free os that doesnt included any closed code/binary blobs/closed drivers etc.

Just 100% free open code, no traps.

What are the options and what should one go with if they want fully free os that rejects any closed code?

Israeli air strikes pummelled the besieged Gaza Strip on Wednesday, killing at least 33 Palestinians, including 20 women and children, less than 48 hours after the UN Security Council adopted US President Donald Trump's 20-point plan for the enclave.

Israeli fighter jets bombed tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, as well as homes in Gaza City, with more than 70 people reported wounded.

Shelling and air strikes were also reported on Thursday morning, with most of the casualties reported in Khan Younis, local media reported.

The Palestinian group Hamas condemned the latest "massacre" and described it as "a dangerous escalation through which [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu seeks to resume the genocide."

"If you ask me, Microsoft has been one of the biggest driving forces behind Linux adoption in recent years. The way they've been handling Windows, with its forced updates, aggressive telemetry, and questionable AI features, has sent more people to Linux than any marketing campaign ever could. And they are at it again with a new AI feature that could be tricked into installing malware on your system. ... Microsoft admits that features like Copilot Actions introduce "novel security risks." They warn about cross-prompt injection (XPIA), where malicious content in documents or UI elements can override the AI's instructions. ..."

Now, what do do with the copilot button?

Well if you're into running local LLMs, you could always tie it into that

Or just make it a dedicated Steam button LMAO

Not really, unintended side effects.

Couple of different reasons really

Shopping for a new home instance

Exploring the Threadiverse from different perspectives (the "hot" feed you see can vary quite a bit depending on the instance you're on lol)

Trolling .ml (or Why am I cross-posting .ml content?

I cross-post from .ml to the nearest relevant non-.ml comm to reduce the influence of .ml comms and indirectly, the instance as a whole, to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate because one key reason I identified that admins don't want to defederate is because .ml still has some very large comms and some niche comms.

Megathread on the issue

Some highlights from the link:

"Don't worry guys, the Uyghur Genocide was REALLY just birth control! ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/30580167

"See! nobody died IN Tiananmen Square, just AROUND it, so it doesn't count!!" ~ Davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/30673342

.ml admin, Nutomics continued transphobia https://lemmy.world/post/29222558 The original transphobic Comment from Nutomic: https://lemmy.world/post/18236068

"NK is actually good and anything counter to that is Western propaganda!" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/31595035

General negative sentiment to other instances who haven't "seen the way" yet ~davel, .ml admin https://lemmy.world/post/27426510

"If you don't support Russia then you just don't understand geopolitics" ~dessalines, .ml admin, dev https://lemmy.world/post/27352415

And so so much documentation on clear heavy handed censorship and bias also on the link. So much I can't even put them all here because this comment would be really long.

I believe the behavior of its admins (the main admins are Lemmy devs) does harm to the overall growth of the Lemmy-verse and maybe even the Thrediverse (since Lemmy kinda kicked off the Thrediverse) because of its association with the devs of Lemmy and their insistence to use .ml as their personal political platform to spread harmful propaganda

On the outside, bringing up Lemmy frequently leads to comments like "Lemmy? Isn't that the place with a bunch of tankies?" Or "Tried Lemmy, but found it full of pro Russia crap so I left". The best way forward from that I see is to either widely defederate from .ml like the rest of the Triad, or pressure them to put a fair and unbiased as possible admin team.

)

Learning that the bot intended to better interconnect instance comms may not be doing as good of a job

Interconnecting wayward instances, this one for example not a single comm I posted to was federated, I had to manually federate each one for posting

Creating comms on fitting instances or just among a regular rotation of general instances so I'm not making a whole bunch on any one instance

Because what's the fun in that?

[–] cm0002@digipres.cafe 2 points 1 week ago

Lol nah, but you know who else likes to make Lemmy accounts?
