Agreed that the chart looks hilariously fake, but it’s a real image from a 2013 leak by Edward Snowden on PRISM. I found that original image in this Guardian article: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jun/06/us-tech-giants-nsa-data

The Wikipedia article includes more discussion and context on the leak.

I use subgen to generate my subtitles locally. I have it linked to Bazarr but apparently there’s webhooks for Jellyfin.

For those who might not read the article, Biden made his comment in response to a reporter asking him what Trump should take from Carter’s legacy. Biden’s response was:

“Decency, decency, decency. Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?”

You joke, but I was actually convinced to finally switch my home PC from Windows to Linux because of posts on Lemmy. The Lemmy -> Linux pipeline is really effective.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I’m visiting my family for Christmas and have mostly been catching up. My dad actually brought down a bunch of my childhood toys from the attic (Imaginext if anyone ever played with those) and we built some playsets together. Some of the pieces are missing so we had to improvise, but it’s been a lot of fun.

Tomorrow we’ll be focused on the Christmas dinner. It’s a tradition my dad loves, even though most of us aren’t great cooks. We’ll be attempting Cornish game hen, mashed potatoes, spinach and other greens, and my vegan brother is making Moussaka with impossible meat (he’s the one good cook in the family).

I don’t have any big plans for the next year, I’m terrible at planning ahead for things and usually decide on trips a few weeks before going.

Thank you for this wonderful community. Switching from reddit to Lemmy felt like a big jump and after switching between a few instances, I’m happy to have landed here.

Ballpark estimate, excluding the sugar:

2.5kg beef: ~6265 Calories

0.5l vodka: ~1082 Calories

1.3kg white rice: ~4743 Calories

1.3kg flour: ~4732 Calories

500g butter: ~3585 Calories

300g cooking oil (Google says rapeseed oil is popular in Poland so I used that): ~2652 Calories

250g chocolate: ~1338 Calories

Total: 24,397 Calories or ~813 Calories per day

Some other people online also did the math and came up with similar numbers. For example: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37027027 came up with 33,063 Calories (including the sugar)

I switched from Windows to EndeavourOS a few months ago and haven’t had any issues on my personal computer, it’s amazing.

I also have EndeavourOS as a VM on my work laptop and I somehow managed to break systemd-boot when trying to do a system update though. The system update died halfway through and I defaulted to the classic solution of rebooting, which definitely made things worse because my boot partition in the VM broke. The great thing about Linux, and especially Arch, is the tools and knowledge readily available to fix things and everything was working again (with no data loss) in under 15 minutes. I’ve dealt with similar problems on Windows and either had to accept data loss or deal with significant headaches trying to resolve what should be a simple issue because the operating system refuses to provide basic information.

Yeah, it just shows that the artist 麵包 (https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/11500734) posted the original picture.
