It's not that Mario Kart is worth 90, it's that a lot of these AAA games aren't worth 60.

I was talking about the prices at the regional chain I go to, not at Costco.

Ain't got no Costco to go to personally. I go to a regional chain, but I am suspicious of the prices sometimes (why are the 12 packs of sodas often on sale for 14.88?)

Literal black and white thinking

There's been calls to abolish pennies since the 1990s. I don't have a strong opinion on it personally, but there's okay arguments in favor of it.

States' rights can be great when you agree with the policies, but I'm personally harrowed by stories of state government showing obvious contempt for their big cities.

When BAFTA's poll reached Lemmy, I did think a lot of you were overrating Doom (and I can't help but think it's because a lot of you were PC gamers when Doom came out.) It's definitely in the top ten, but not number 1 IMO. Tetris, Minecraft, Super Mario Bros, and Pong definitely belong above Doom IMO.

But Shenmue??? Maybe top twenty, but number 1???

I can't understand why people expect Lemmy to be less Reddit than Reddit. It's literally a platform for people who are so deep in Reddit that they've developed a hatred for Reddit becoming more normie friendly.

As someone who has some interests aligned with average Lemmy users but not enough to use it as my primary platform, Lemmy is inhabited by the stereotypical Redditor of ten years ago.

ITT: Nerds that want mass Linux adoption but don't want to deal with people who don't share their interests and opinions

Who buys this?

I am honestly this close to believing that a bunch of online Marxist-Leninists are actually MAGA operatives seeking to normalize Trump's actions. I just don't see what a real leftist movement has to gain from trying to convince us things are business as usual when they so clearly aren't.
