I feel you on that.

I live in a town of about 71,000 The nearest grocery store which is a little bit more expensive is seven minutes by car. The other one that’s a little bit less expensive is about 15 to 20 minutes by car.

I’m thinking Fluffy could do some good work with a joke in that area.

Exactly. Always follow the money.

I’m over 50 and they tried to ban Diary of Anne Frank when I was a kid. Sometimes they even succeeded.

Fucking idiots. Name one reason why kids shouldn’t read that book. They never could. Not a real reason anyway.

Over and over they try to ban books. The only thing that really changes is that they add books to the list.

Majority of those aren’t in my area. Not complaining about you posting it. Just stating that I live in the middle of no where.

As long as the individual at question has chosen their own path why would I care?

Moving on to something more important.

Yeah we know. Our at least those paying attention do.

Jack in the movie Titanic is actually a serial killer. Rose is his accomplice. Dead bodies keep showing up throughout the ship, people start to panic before the iceberg. The ship still hits the iceberg and still sinks. His final kill is kathy bates's character. She was the lady in the actual movie that was actually nice to him and helped him get a nice suit. (If my memory is correct). Don't even need to go full gore.

So true. Just randomly call someone. If they pick up, start a conversation.

Interesting thought

I wonder if it has something to do with mint Linux is installed on an external solid-state USB drive, I’m in the process of seeing if I like Linux before I do a full switch over, I wonder if the system isn’t shutting down a hair too soon before everything can be really stopped. Although when I read that output file that I pasted, it’s like the system is shutting down just not actually turning off. Just a thought that I had

Most times the computer will turn off when I click shut down, but randomly it does not turn off. The screen shot is the output as the computer is trying to shut down. Any ideas of why the system randomly doesn’t turn off? How to fix it?

I think I might put a pin in this one until I do a re-install and put it on the hard drive actually in the computer. Maybe the external drive is causing the problem ..

For example, I just purchased mass effect legendary edition in steam in mint Linux.

I also have a Windows computer Windows 10, if I installed steam onto the Windows 10 computer and logged into my steam account. Would mass effect legendary edition show up there? I’m asking here rather than trying it , which sounds kind of odd, Because my Windows 10 computer isn’t working really well right now so it’d be kind of a pain to make the test myself.

The second half the question is, if I were to buy a steam deck, would my steam purchase of mass effect legendary edition show up on the steam deck?

I realize this not a Linux specific question, But I wasn’t sure exactly where to post it out.

So my big questions are :

is there a way to get an equalizer installed.

Is there a way to fix the audio so the player Rhythmbox doesn't try to create a surround effect in music during playback? It seems like the music system is trying to "shove" the music from the left and right speakers further out to the left and right. Kind of an artificial surround sound.

I have 2 speakers and sub plugged into the computer via a usb cable that runs directly to the sub with the speakers plugged into the sub.

I'm running linux mint. it comes with rhythmbox preinstalled. I used the software manager to install

Rhythmbox-plugin-alternative-toolbar

but didn't see any real change to the interface of rhythmbox .

When I go to the 3 lines on the upper right corner (which I assume is the menu) and click that it shows (view) (tools) (preferences)

When I click preferences and then the plugins tab it doesn't show the plug in that i just installed ..

I was hoping that the plugin might give me some control for how the audio is played (some sort of equalizer)

i tried going to the package manager to see if there is an equalizer that i could add to this program. doesn't seem to be any.

any help is appreciated.

solved: answer in comments. short answer is Piper needed to be installed.

I installed solaar.

It calls my mouse a m500s. In Solaar i set key/button diversion (there are 2 drop down menus) one i set to forward button the other i set to regular. This causes one of the buttons on the side of the mouse to act as the forward button on a web browser.

key/button actions drop down menus (2 drop down menus) I set to back button and mouse back button.

when i run

xev -event mouse | grep -b2 button

4319-ButtonPress event, serial 25, synthetic NO, window 0x3000001, 4381- root 0x1e5, subw 0x3000002, time 13605046, (43,38), root:(75,102), 4452: state 0x10, button 9, same_screen YES 4494- 4495-EnterNotify event, serial 25, synthetic NO, window 0x3000001,

4708-ButtonRelease event, serial 25, synthetic NO, window 0x3000001, 4772- root 0x1e5, subw 0x3000002, time 13605214, (43,38), root:(75,102), 4843: state 0x10, button 9, same_screen YES 4885- 4886-LeaveNotify event, serial 25, synthetic NO, window 0x3000001,

that is the result if I hit the forward button on the side of the mouse in the test window. but no result of hitting the other side button (the back button).

I know that the o/s isn't recognizing the button press but not sure how to get linux mint to recognize the pressing of the button.

any thoughts on how to fix this issue?

I can't seem to find an answer via google. In order to play Guild Wars 2 (this is a windows game so i had to use steam to get it to run in linux mint 22.1)

the game runs pretty good. the problem I can't use the ALT key .. and I need that key for certain things.

but the games acts as if I'm not pressing ALT.

I'm thinking the ALT key bound to something via steam or even to linux mint itself but I'm not sure where to even look at. sadly google wasn't helpful. Any tips on where to begin looking at? (warning : I'm new to linux so might need a few pointers).

solved:

Go to Menu.
Select Preferences.
Navigate to the Windows section.
Click on the Behavior tab.
Locate the option for 'Special Key to move and resize windows.'
Set it to 'Disabled' (or any other preference you'd like).

By secondary windows drive : I mean in windows 10 I have a C drive the main drive. and I have a D drive (the secondary drive for extra storage). I'm curious if I put data onto it or copied data from it would windows 10 have any sort of issues with that data or even the entire drive?

I ask this because I’m in the process of moving fully to Linux mint and have a steam account in Linux. I don’t think EA has a program that runs natively in Linux. I’m wondering if there isn’t a way to grab the windows install file for legendary edition of Mass Effect and install it onto my Linux system understeam.

Or maybe there’s a more efficient way that somebody knows of to do this.

I finally got the bottom bar to be the color that I want instead of stupid gray. But whenever I’m moused over something in the system, it’s impossible to see what I’m really actually moused over. Is there a way to change that highlight color?

In the photo I’ve attached. It’s somewhat easy to see it, but in real life unless you’re sitting way off the side of the computer screen, you literally can’t see what is highlighted. It’s basically gray on gray. On a side note, I wanna meet the people who actually designed this interface give them a piece of my mind. But big question how do I change the highlight color of what I’m moused over.?
