Everyone plays a small part. It's kind of like voting. My vote is one in a million but I still must vote, if everyone thinks they should not vote because their vote is only one in a million it will be bad. We must try the best we can and urge everyone we know to boycott Tesla and Twitter and in addition urge them to spread the message along to their friend groups. Trying is always better than not trying. Helping doesn't require any additional effort. For example maybe you're out of interesting conversation topics with friends, maybe you could mention something like "did you hear about the Tesla that caught on fire?" (mention one of the many, many times this has happened, be sure to clarify that other EV brands are more safe so people go to another EV brand, not an ICE car) then later say "I heard that Tesla cars are dangerous because the doors automatically lock in an expulsion and they also lie about their range" ... "This knowledge could save your friends or family, be sure to pass it along" When you say interesting facts like that to people they may repeat it even if you don't ask them to.

Thank you so much for finding that! It's even more shocking than I thought. So many more instances already. I hope this prompts more people to delete their Twitter/X account.

The most important thing is to take care of your own health. I'd recommend pivoting sending encouraging messages to progressives. For example if there's a content creator you like write a message saying you're grateful for everything he/she does. You'll feel good and whoever receives your message will feel good too.

Also campaign for issues you care about instead of being against issues you're opposed to. This should result in less anxiety and stress. If that doesn't work you got to focus on the anxiety and stress first before you focus on activism. The reason why is because once you solve the anxiety and stress you will be more powerful. I've read articles on resisting Trump and most say you must first focus on your personal health. https://wagingnonviolence.org/2024/11/10-things-to-do-if-trump-wins/

I agree totally, these instructions are only for those who for whatever reason feel they must stay on those platforms. Leaving is the better option.

I agree 100%. These instructions are only for people who for whatever reason feel they must still have an account. Leaving is much better if you can. If for whatever reason you feel you cannot leave I would highly recommend cross posting on Bluesky and Mastodon.

The message the TikTok app displays stoops to a new low to pander to Trump.

It's no wonder why Trump all of a sudden wants to "save" TikTok:

This one is especially damning:

TikTok is spending $50,000 on an inauguration party honoring influencers who helped Donald Trump spread his campaign message, according to the party organizer — and it’s scheduled for Sunday, the deadline for the company to spin off from its China-based owner or be banned in the U.S.

CEO Shou Zi Chew is expected to attend.

I did some research and now I know why Trump wants to "save" TikTok.

The more people that express negative sentiment the harder it will be for them to go after people. It's your first amendment right, use it. Don't comply in advance.

No wonder why Trump wants to "save" TikTok. It has the stuff Republicans crave.

I didn't know Mike Pence or Mike Johnson had a Lemmy account.

I see people who say they hate Tesla but they claim Tesla cars have better range. With this information I can refute everyone who spreads that lie. Tesla cars lie about their range capabilities and the number is less valuable than the paper it's printed on.

You make it sound like they were randomly failing and not involved in accidents etc

We'll have to wait for clarification from him but I'm pretty sure that's exactly what he means.

In addition to what the article mentioned about H1B visas he also is still set to appoint some terrible people to his cabinet.

There’s been so much going on in the world so I wanted to take the time to say that the threat of Trump’s cabinet is looming closer and closer each day.

There is something you can do about this and it only takes a few minutes. Call your senator and ask that they oppose Trump’s radical cabinet picks.

Say no to Russian-asset Tulsi Gabbard, xenophobic Pete Hegseth, Qtard Kash Patel, nutjob quack RFK Jr.

Fox propaganda is playing on TVs 24/7 in airports, gyms, bars, hospitals, nursing homes and even military bases. If you see Murdoch's trash such as Fox or one of his other channels on a public TV ask that they change the channel or change it yourself if you can. It's time to do put a stop to it.

For changing the channel on a TV that you don't have the remote to (ex: public TV or nursing home TV) your smartphone might be able to do it if it has an IR blaster. If your phone doesn't support that there are USB-C dongles you can buy that I believe can do it. Another option is to buy a universal remote. Also for some smart TVs it might be possible to download the app and use that to control the TV.

Also especially if your parents/grandparents are elderly, or have dementia or Alzheimer's consider setting up parental control on their TV to block Fox News and other right wing channels. It's important to protect their health. I'd say this will depend on their situation but I trust that you'll know if this is the right thing to do based on that person's unique situation.

If you work for a hospital or nursing home maybe try advocating for a facility wide ban of Fox News and other right wing channels. I sincerely believe it will improve health outcomes.

Also when the image was made the percentage of scientists who accept climate change was 97%. Now I'm seeing multiple sources say the percentage is 99%. https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/ac2966 https://theconversation.com/the-97-climate-consensus-is-over-now-its-well-above-99-and-the-evidence-is-even-stronger-than-that-170370

Basically prior to the being sold the paper was profitable every year except the last year. Then in 1976 Murdoch bought. I put an excerpt that explains the market challenges of running the paper. Despite these market challenges he ran it for a long time at a loss. It's my opinion that the purpose of owning the paper which loses money every year is influence and power, not just numbers on a balance sheet. That's why Murdoch ran it at a loss for so long. Likely he believed the influence and power netted more money for him overall.

The article says:

The Post at this point was the only surviving afternoon daily in New York City and its circulation under Schiff had grown by two-thirds, particularly after the failure of the competing World Journal Tribune; however, the rising cost of operating an afternoon daily in a city with worsening daytime traffic congestion, combined with mounting competition from expanded local radio and TV news cut into the Post's profitability, though it made money from 1949 until Schiff's final year of ownership, when it lost $500,000.

When you own a newspaper you can do things like this: https://www.dailydot.com/debug/new-york-post-writer-resigns-kamala-harris-book-story/

CEO of Tesla and acting President-elect Musk is going on a neo-Nazi binge endorsing far right candidates instead of properly running the companies he's involved in such as Tesla.

In addition Tesla is considered one of the most unreliable car brands according to: https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-placed-bottom-consumer-reports-reliability-rankings/

Moreover Tesla has the highest fatal accident rates of all car brands according to: https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a62919131/tesla-has-highest-fatal-accident-rate-of-all-auto-brands-study/

Also there are privacy implications with using a car that could in theory spy on you: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2023/05/massive-trove-of-tesla-files-contains-thousands-of-safety-complaints/

Now that more competent and establish brands are making EVs there's no reason to buy a Tesla if you want an EV. I'm not here to recommend another brand, I'm just here to tell you that your next EV should be anything other than a Tesla.
