OK but have you ever been to western Europe and eatern bread? Because I've spent a lot of time in the US eating bread and it's not like European bread, not at all.

But American bread is crazy sweet and very unbreadlike compared to European bread, I split my time between both and first thing I do when I get out of the US us have some proper bread.

I half agree but also I think with every extra step reddit takes like banning people for upvoting posts that mention Luigi we see more people interested in a freer alternative.

What lemmy needs is some new use cases reddit doesn't have, I've been thinking about making an adversary debate platform that basically just offers a different format to a thread designed to make understanding events easier. Also I want to try making gamified chat modes where the main image is altered based on agreement or disagreement in the thread, basically an info graphic of the thread.

I'd love to make some game experiences on it too, I was thinking of a similar collaborative experience where user interactions in the thread alter the main image gameboard - would be great to use the existing floss infrastructure to make something open and fun.

Yeah when I was young most the weird anti vegetarian talking points that got thrown at me endlessly were things like 'but if you were on an island without vegetation you'd have to eat meat' but there was a point where it switched to bad nutrition 'you can't get protein from vegetables!'

I would point out that since I've never eaten meat and am healthy and strong that's obviously not true and so they'd revert back to innane stuff like 'mice and foxes get killed during harvesting' or 'plants can feel pain too'

Now though it's evolved into weird alpha male podcast drivel, I hear stuff like 'beans make you feminine' and 'we need beef protein to create masculine hormones' and it's always backed by complex jargon from people speaking like doctors but who can't answer basic biology questions like what do the kidneys do.

Seems reasonable and likely, but that's not what people here want they want an enemy they can pretend is pure evil so they can feel good about themselves

I donate small amounts to open source projects and content creators that .make stuff for everyone because I really believe it's a great way of fighting capitalism and many of the problems it's caused.
