I'd look into MongoDB Atlas for the database itself and Google Cloud Storage or AWS S3 for storing images and videos with the link to their sources stored in the database.

That's an important caveat!
I find that they block your ears and reduce your vision too much.
That's not how it works.You don't need an app to know that someone is tracking you with an Airtag (or compatible) or a Google tracker on either iOS or Android.
Its not ok when it's an American company, and America has a long way to go on this.
However, enforcement is impossible when China is the one controlling it. There is no limit to what they are allowed to do with the data.
China is banning any Chinese personal data from leaving the country because they are afraid we would handle the data the same way they do foreign data.
Race has nothing to do with it. Dictatorship does. It's bad if any dictatorship or unfriendly country does it.
Bad precedent of banning widely popular apps that do data mining and influence and that are controlled by non friendly dictatorships? If VK was popular in the US, should it get banned, or should we just let it do its things?

Giving so much information and influencial power to a dictatorship is crazy. China is not a friendly country, they are on the brink of a war with Taiwan, they commit genocides, and have the power to rewrite history.
Sure, Musk and Zuckerberg also influence elections, but at least they're under American law. TikTok is not just "some" Chinese company. It is controlled by China.

Well, insurances are profitable companies. No matter how you look at it, in average they will always make more money of a single insuree than what they pay out. Knowing this, if you can afford the potentially expensive hit, it's better to not insure or insure as little as possible.
That been said, not many people can afford to not have an insurance as a big hit can create a lifelong debt. Whereas when you do have an insurance, they find a way to not pay and you end up with a lifelong debt. Oh wait...
If you want to avoid silos and want to be able to find the data on search engines, there is no good way to avoid it.
I believe the alternative is worse. We have lost so much to the old internet. Regular old forums used to be easy to find and access.
Now, everything is siloed. No good way to publicly search for information shared on Discord, on X, on Facebook, on Instagram. Even Reddit which has a deal with Google only now. So much of current information used to be just a search away and is disappearing to closed platforms that requires to log in.
It's very much not recommended, and generally seen as an error. But this article puts an asterisk on it.
