I also remember republicans freaking out about how Obama was going to run for a third term and declare himself king even though there was absolutely no indication that anyone thought that was a good idea. He was just popular and they couldn’t handle it.

I think it’s really dangerous to keep dismissing the Greenland talk as a distraction. We have learned the lesson dozens of times before not to dismiss anything he says because it’s just “crazy talk.”

Taking control of Greenland and Canada would give a US-Russian alliance complete control over the Arctic circle, which has been a tactical goal of Putin’s for decades.

The day could come very soon when the US will take military action against Europe on behalf of Russian interests, and the rest of the world should take it seriously and prepare.

The Ukrainian flag is upside down on the map. Yellow should be on the bottom.

Last time I messed with it, when I added a new skill, it let me choose which job experience it was relevant to, so I think they’re linked.

Make sure your skills section is filled out. That’s mostly what recruiters use to filter their searches. I’ve added a new skill before and had a message from a recruiter about that specific skill within a week.

lost his fucking marbles.

Funny thing about that. He was an avid promoter of the game of marbles and wrote a book called “Marbles for Everyone” under the name “Mr. Marbles.”

But yes, also a raving lunatic until he died in 2015.

The other generations listed cover anywhere from 15 to 28 years. Why would gen alpha only be 11 years?

Is IP not logged anywhere in Lemmy/ ActivityPub?

I had the same idea and looked into it. If you’re a salaried employee, the only way to not have withholdings taken from your paychecks is to claim withholding exemption on your W4, which you can only legally do if you had no tax burden last year and expect to have none this year. The threshold for that is really low, like $13,800/yr I think.

You can always try it anyway, but if they do come looking for their money, there will be penalties to pay on top of the tax amount.

It sucks because even just a high yield savings account could make you an extra $800 or so on your income tax money if you just held it and paid as a lump sum.

“Low income Alabama residents” is the key phrase. Considering the demographics of Alabama, the majority of people helped by this program were probably Black.

Thanks for a lot of useful replies, everyone. Sorry I ghosted my own post for a couple days. I’m seeing surprisingly few people who actually use or used TrueNAS, so maybe that’s something to consider moving away from. I’ll have to weigh my options.

A year ago I built a NAS to reduce my reliance on cloud services, and set up an arr stack. I went with TrueNAS Scale, which was on Bluefin at the time. In the past 12 months, TrueNAS Scale has been through FOUR major OS versions, with a fifth already announced. At least one of those involved a release train switch so, despite diligently checking for updates in the dashboard, I was left in the dust with an obsolete OS, and didn’t find out until it was already a huge hassle to upgrade.

I’ve been really happy with the utility and benefit of having this tool, but holy smokes how is anybody supposed to keep up with all of this? This is far from my only hobby, and I simply do not have the time, patience, or interest for a constant race to keep up with vetting new release versions and fixing what breaks every 3 weeks. I have enough tinkering hobbies as it is.

On top of that, there’s the whole blow up with TrueCharts, which has also left me with an entire suite of obsolete albatrosses around my NAS that I need to deal with. Am I still waiting for them to figure out an upgrade path? I don’t even know anymore.

Sorry for the rant, but I guess what I’m looking for is: how do you keep up with the constant maintenance and updates, and where do I go from here, in February 2025, with a system running Bluefin 22.12, a 32TB ZFS pool (RAIDZ1) that has to remain intact, and a handful of TrueCharts apps that I don’t want to lose the data from (e.g. Jellyfin configs/watch history)?

It’s gonna be Aileen Cannon. She’s already proven that her only judicial competencies are complete deference and fealty to trump and disdain for impartiality and procedure, which are the only qualifications they’re looking for.
