Unless you're putting your animal in shows, why tf would anyone care about having a pure breed? Get a mutt that resembles what you want, and you should be good to go (and have a healthier animal).

Safety isn't a matter of taste. After a certain threshold maybe, but prior to that, it's a matter of responsibility (and sometimes legal liability).

My understanding is that doctors often don't just question but often refuse if they think the person should not do it. To be clear, that refusal is generally based on personal opinion, not for medical reasons.

This just in: primary caregiver more likely to remember medical details! I'm a stay-at-home dad, and I have much greater knowledge about my kids' medical history.

Doing weirdly disgusting things spur of the moment is one thing. But deliberately waiting to do it, having given yourself a bit to realize how gross it is? That's not right.
