I’m over 50 but the queue has to be huge for me to go to self-checkout.

I do not enjoy waiting for someone to come and check if im stealing. I do not enjoy waiting for a go-ahead for goods that are age restricted. I do not enjoy doing unpaid work (wheres my rebate??)

Also - I think cashiers deserve a job.

I only browse reddit on computers with RES. Coupled with ad-blocking nameserver that gives me a clean look. But it’s not any better IMO. But then I was there when the Digg crowd came, so what I miss is the 2009 version when it really was the front page and regular beat the news and had better experts

Ok - so just attach the dynamo then.

Like maybe you can create heat? That could like boil water (or rather som fluid that boils easy under pressure in some closed loop). Then drive the dynamo off that. Im no scientist so i just make shit up, but often steam is part of smart shit

I interpreted it as “i think this is impossible (or difficult), but that op tries to make it possible and easy“

This is already possible and you should treat lemmy as its already happening, even if a nice official backend for this might not exist.

To me that is just sticking your head in the sand, because you seem to believe in security by obscurity.

So you’re saying you feel more comfortable with your head in the sand?

Shame you didn’t
