Elaborate please.

The main reason I am not buying into electric vehicles is the state of reliability and repairability and the immense black box which those vehicles are nowadays. What I would like to see is pretty much exactly that prototype as a commercially available and street legal product. Where everything can be modified and improved or repaired by anyone. Just like in the "good old days"...

That is not the students' task I guess. That should and will be done by the industry. The concept could possibly be adapted to an existing electric car platform (chassis, frame,...).

My guess is that some company will buy them out and bury the plans.

It is the least evil for the ignorant technology end user.

Die GLS sind genauso Gangster wie die anderen Banken. Nur in grünem Anstrich. Übrigens ultra teuer im Alltag.

I'd drill into the thickest part with a small drill, then tilt it and gently pull it out with the key.

It is officially supported by /e/OS https://shop.fairphone.com/fairphone-e-operating-system I guess Lineage OS will follow soon.

Didn't find any detailed info on the hardware.

What OS is it running and do we get better hardware security features? Any alternative OS compatible?

iPod 5th with SSD is a good choice. Aim for 64MB RAM. iRiver H3xx series was the peak portable device, but that's long ago. Also check the rockbox device list: https://www.rockbox.org/manual.shtml

This is dangerous. I don't have as much time as I would need to enjoy this.

My personal experience is that I feel that as an overlay in OSMAnd it is not as up to date in realtime terms as the traffic layer in gmaps. I might be wrong though, I don't use it as much.
