A bunny demanding uppies, that sounds so cute! Our bunny hates being picked up, except sometimes, when there's noise outside and he wants to see what's going on (construction workers, trucks backing up, that sort of stuff) :3c

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 44 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Aww, we once had a bunny who was like that, except he didn't like being off the ground. So every time he came to my desk, I had to sit in a very awkward and uncomfortable position for anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to pet him while he was sitting on the floor, and I happily did that for him

The economy definitely makes it tough to find a job at the moment! Your friends' experience with unsuccessful job-hunting sounds very familiar. The new direction is working for a local government and basically being the person you talk to to get licences, permits, and other documents like that. It's pretty much a dead end in terms of career (you can move horizontally but not vertically, I guess), but it sounds chill, pays well enough, has high job security, and sounds a lot better than making money for random corporations (most of my current options include some form of marketing, which I hate)

The lighting is great! I love how the flowers glow, it's so pretty (even though hanahaki sounds very painful). So, great art :3 but poor guy :c

My job situation is starting to maybe look a little less terrible than a few weeks ago. It's still far from good because nobody wants to give me a job, but at least my attempts to head in a different direction aren't immediately rejected. I have a few online tests to do, and if they go well, they'll invite me to an interview, and maybe I'll be able to start my "career" from scratch next year :3

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 4 points 4 days ago

Heck yeah, birthdays are a great excuse to draw! A cool drawing, your friend is a very lucky person :3

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 3 points 4 days ago

I like that idea. Although I usually only browse the Local + Subscribed feeds, it's a nice way to show what the community has to offer when people first visit :3

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 5 points 5 days ago

A cuddle pile would be awesome :3

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 2 points 6 days ago

A very nice ratio of shiny clothes to naked skin. Exposing the middle like that is really hot :3

No, I don't just want this. I need this qwq

Xenia is the best. It's a shame she didn't end up being the official mascot, but I'm glad that people still appreciate her enough to make so much cool art :3

Very cute and lovable :3 I like the background, it feels like it adds a lot of motion to the drawing even though it's static

Hello!

TLDR: monitor started showing lines in the top photo, now it remains completely black except for a few pixels at the top. Can it be repaired, or do I have to buy a new one?

On Tuesday, my monitor (ASUS VA24EHE, 4.5 years old) started showing the lines that you can see in the top photo. Even though the lower 3/4 of the screen looked normal, they were frozen. After a couple of minutes, they went away and didn't come back. Everything worked as usual.

On Wednesday, it "broke" almost completely. There is a slim bit of screen visible at the very top (10-20 pixels), everything else is black. The bottom photo kinda shows that area. I took the monitor off the monitor arm to use my secondary as new primary, and after a few hours, I could magically use it again, just like on Tuesday.

Today, it remained completely unusable all day long.

What I already tried:

  • a different cable (still the same issues -> it's not the cable)
  • a different computer / my laptop (still the same issues -> it's not my GPU)

That makes me think it's the display itself that's the issue. It's most likely not a broken HDMI input, I think, because the same issues occur when I turn it on without any video cables attached. The bottom photo would usually show the ASUS logo, but it's completely black except for the top bit. I don't have DVI or VGA cables, nor does my computer have these outputs to test the monitor's other inputs.

I've looked online and managed to find people with similar issues, but I don't know if it's exactly the same or something slightly different. Most of them were "diagnosed" with a broken display. What I'm most interested in is whether you think this can be repaired because I like this monitor. I'd also be interested in possible causes of this damage.

possible causes? The monitor is attached to a monitor arm. I've been very bad about keeping it dust-free. In the morning, the sun shines on it and the plastic makes the occasion sound when it expands. There's some heavy construction work going on on the neighbouring property and our entire house shakes from time to time (so maybe just a loose internal cable?). The room gets pretty cold in the winter and very warm in the summer because it's barely insulated.

I know it's hard to diagnose stuff like this with just a photo, but maybe that photo is a dead give-away that it's broken?

I'd appreciate any help before I lug it to a repair shop just to be disappointed. Even if the answer is "definitely dead, buy a new one". If you need any more info, just let me know. Thank you! And sorry for the terrible photos.

Merry Christmas, everybody!

Earlier this month, I uploaded a version of the above drawing without characters and asked whether you would be interested in adding your fursonas to create a furry Christmas card. Thank you to everybody who participated – Cally, Foxfire, and Stealthy. Special thanks to green_copper for providing their private collaboration tool for this project and to Foxfire for giving it a boost on the Mastodon side of the Fediverse. It brought me so much joy to see people add their sonas, and I hope the result will bring you just as much joy!

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope you have a wonderful holiday time, or just a wonderful time in general, and get to spend time with those you care about, whoever they may be.

On a private note

Joining the furry fandom is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I found a community of encouraging, kind, and funny ~~people~~ animals who make me smile every single day. Similarly, I’m actually happy that “the other website” had its little API disaster because otherwise, I wouldn’t have found the Fediverse and this lovely, furry place within it. I probably spend too much time here, but that’s okay because I enjoy spending my time here, in this small corner of the internet that’s full of awesome people. Thank you for making this place so special; thank you for being you.

“Oh heck, I completely forgot about this and still want to add my fursona!”
You can! Sure, the intention was to have the final card by the 25th, but if you’re a day or two late, who cares? You can still add your sona the same way as before.

“What about licencing?”
This image is released under a CC-BY licence, which means that you can practically do whatever you want with it as long as you credit the artists (see below).

“What did you say about a collab tool?”
@green_copper@kbin.earth made a really cool tool to collaborate with other people on the internet. It’s even open source!

This is gonna be my desktop background for a while :3

Thank you again, everybody. I hope you have a great rest of 2025. I love you all <3

We’re halfway to Christmas and I figured I’d post a reminder because this is a time-sensitive project. The original post is still on page 1 of c/furry, but Local and Subscribed feeds move way faster, and the image has changed a good bit in the past 10 days, so it’s worth it, I think.

I had this fun idea that we (the "furry side" of Lemmy / the Fediverse) could create a Christmas card together. I drew the background and already added my fursona, and now I'd like to ask you to add your own fursona. If you want to add something to the background, you're welcome to do so, too! The goal is to have a furry Christmas card by the 25th of December.

How to add your fursona to the drawing:

  1. First, you download the "base" drawing from here (hosted on pawb), open it in the image editor of your choice, and add your fursona on a separate layer; make sure the layer with your sona is the same size as the base, 4000x2000 pixels.

  2. Then, you remove the base and export only the layer with your sona on a transparent background as a PNG. There'll be lots of empty space because of the layer size, but that's intentional!

  3. You can either insert the PNG yourself (see below), or reply to this post with your image in the comment and I'll add it to the drawing.

  • How to insert it yourself: Go to this website. In the top right corner, there's a little cog. Click on that and then on "Create Team". A team is basically your user account. Copy the login details the website gives you in case you need to change your image later. Once you've done that, click on the little picture frame in the top left corner and then on "Add Image". Add a description (e.g. your username for image credit) and upload your image file. Because the layer with your sona is the same size as the base, it'll be exactly where you drew it on your device.

  • If you don’t want to / can’t draw your fursona, you can copy-paste an existing drawing of your sona, too. If you have absolutely no idea how to do that, I can help you! Everybody is encouraged to participate regardless of art skills.

Additional info for nerds

The advantage of inserting your drawing yourself is that you're in full control and can replace or remove it without waiting for me to do it for you. If you don't want to do it yourself or have tech trouble, I can help you or just insert it for you. The website is a tool built by @green_copper@kbin.earth, who says that the website doesn't save anything beyond what you upload and non-identifying debug logs on errors. The source code can be found here.

If you want to move your image around a bit or use a smaller-sized image, you'll need to change the x/y values of your layer on the website; there is no drag-and-drop. The website may also be a bit buggy, but a reload usually helps. You most likely won't need to change the z-value, unless your character is behind something they shouldn't be behind.

Base file with layers (if you want to work with layers; Dropbox links): .xcf (GIMP) file and .psd (Photoshop) file. The PS file looks like it works in Krita. I don't have PS, but it should work with that, too.

Regarding licencing, unless further discussion leads to something else, CC-BY will be used. This means that you can do whatever you want with the image as long as you credit the artists.

New post with artist credit (I'll add the credits to this post, too, when the event is over)

Hi everyone!

Christmas is in three weeks and I had this fun idea that we (the "furry side" of Lemmy / the Fediverse) could create a Christmas card together. I drew the background and already added my fursona, and now I'd like to ask you to add your own fursona. I'll keep drawing and improving the background (to the best of my abilities), maybe add some more light and other small stuff, but if you want to add something, you're welcome to do so, too! The goal is to have a furry Christmas card by the 25th of December.

How to add your fursona to the drawing:

  1. First, you download the "base" drawing from this post and add your fursona on a separate layer; make sure the layer with your sona is the same size as the base, 4000x2000 pixels.

  2. Then, you remove the base and export only the layer with your sona on a transparent background as a PNG. There'll be lots of empty space because of the layer size, but that's intentional!

The advantage of doing it yourself is that you're in full control and can replace or completely remove your image without waiting for me to do it for you. If you don't want to do it yourself or have tech trouble, I can help you or just insert it for you. The website is a tool built by @green_copper@kbin.earth, who says that the website doesn't save anything beyond what you upload and non-identifying debug logs on errors. The source code can be found here.

Note: If you make your image the size of the base, you won't need to change the x/y coordinates. If you want to move your image around a bit or use a smaller-sized image, however, you'll need to change those values; there is no drag-and-drop. The website may also be a bit buggy, but a reload usually helps. You most likely won't need to change the z-value, unless your character is behind something they shouldn't be behind.

Base file with layers (if you wish to use it instead of the image in the post; Dropbox links because I don't know what else to use, I know it sucks, I'm sorry): .xcf (GIMP) file and .psd (Photoshop) file. The PS file looks like it works in Krita. I don't have PS, but it should work with that, too.

To avoid conflicts, it'd be cool if you could comment where you are going to draw your sona. Moving standing sonas (like mine) around is easy, but if too many people want to peek out from behind the tree, for example, there won't be enough space. That way, you can also coordinate your drawing with others (and even hold hands!). If you don't care about positioning, you can also just reply with your sona and I'll put it in a nice spot for you.

If you don't want to or can't draw your fursona, you can copy-paste an existing drawing of your sona, too. If you have absolutely no idea how to do that, I can help you! But I'd still like to encourage everybody to give drawing their fursona a shot. There's no pressure, though. This is all fun and games.

Regarding licencing, unless further discussion leads to something else, CC-BY will be used. This means that you can do whatever you want with the image as long as you credit the artists, who I'll add to this post for your convenience.

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. I just hope this doesn't flop tbh :3c

Catbox backup link in case of federation issues.

One of my favourite parts about working from home is that I can take short breaks to walk around, stretch, or cuddle Blahaj whenever I want :3

alt textA digital drawing of my canine fursona sitting on the floor in their room and cuddling a Blahaj (IKEA's shark plushie). They look very happy. Their work laptop is on a desk in the foreground, implying that they are cuddling a plushie instead of working. End alt text.

This is a furry parody of Joost Klein's song "Europapa" (the Dutch entry to this year's Eurovision Song Contest). It's a very cute and silly video, and the music is so well made that I've been listening to it almost every day for the last few weeks. Most of the song is in Dutch, but there's a pretty good translation in the comments :3

alt text: a screenshot of the Wikipedia article about leap years. It says "A leap year, also known as an intercalary year or bissextile year, (...)". The word "bissextile" is circled in red and has arrows pointing at it. An image of a bisexual pride flag, Moxxie (a bisexual character in the show Helluva Boss), and Freddie Mercury are placed around the word "bissextile" because it looks a lot like bisexual. end alt text uwu

edit: apologies for the missing image. I uploaded it to my home instance (pawb.social), which had some technical issues and went down a couple of hours later. But it's back now, and so is the image. (Nothing but love for the pawb admins, shit happens <3)

I made a comic :3

alt textA black-and-white comic with seven panels. The comic’s title is “The Duality of Furries.”

First panel: My “generic anthro canine” fursona is holding a phone, smiling, and looking flattered.

Second panel: A phone screen showing a conversation. Me: “ur cute :3” - them: “no u >w<” - me: “not as cute as u O//w//O” - them: “u the cutest”

Third panel: My fursona smiling and holding a phone, similar to the first panel.

Fourth panel: Another phone screen with further messages. Me: “oki gotta go now :3” - them: “nuuu why? ;-;” - me: “goin 2 a concert uwu” - them: “oooh have fun <3”

A text box: “one hour later”

Fifth panel: My fursona is in a dark concert hall and participating in a circle pit (lots of people running in a big circle to the rhythm of the music). My sona is smiling and has determined eyes. The circle pit is surrounded by other concertgoers. Big, red letters above the circle pit spell “KILL.”

Sixth panel: My fursona is in the same dark concert hall and participating in a mosh pit (an area where seemingly violent dancing occurs). My sona is windmilling their arms with closed eyes and a strained expression on their face. Others in the pit are doing a two-step, the bees knees, and the chicken dance. Big, red letters above the mosh pit spell “KILL.”

Seventh panel: My fursona is crowd surfing with a big smile and their arms raised. In the background, a photo from a Dying Fetus concert (a death metal band) shows the band members to evoke the feeling of being at a concert. Below my crowd surfing sona, big, red letters spell “KILL KILL.”
