I don't really know what to say (besides your welcome).

So instead, I'm just gonna share a photo of a dog I found while walking once ;3

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Nice photo; thank you for sharing it ^^

[–] TheNokMachine@pawb.social 2 points 4 days ago

No problem, I hope I'll be able to share more as time go on

I want to learn how to draw, but I have a job that exhausts me to no end, and I have a bunch of books I want to read and games to play.

I also find it a little exhausting being at such a work place where showing any appreciation for anthro characters is tantamount to social death

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 3 points 4 days ago

Well, this suck :( I'm sorry for you especially as changing jobs in the current economy is everything but easy. But if you spend a bit of time every week looking for one (on the internet or by talking to friends) maybe a lucky opportunity will come up. Hope til then you can at least relax in your holidays.

For many people everything not fitting in their "normality" is strange at best and a thread to their personal life at worst. Humans suck :/

probably going to a furmeet tomorrow after never having gone to any in person stuff since joining the fandom, only online stuff, so Im kind of exited but also my social anxiety problems are spiking cause Im just not used to meeting new people and dont know what to expect really. Going with a friend so at least I wont be completely away from familiar people but that friend is in the same boat as I am so it only helps so much.

[–] MrMoopne@lemmus.org 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I went to my first furmeet not too long ago and it was absolutely worth it. I'm sure you'll have a great time!!

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Thats encouraging. Im probably just overthinking it, I just worry about standing out as someone that doesnt have anything "visibly" furry (I know most people dont have suits and so those probably arent expected, but when Ive tried to look up the meet Im going to, Ive noticed a lot of the people in the pictures that come up at least have like, animal ear stuff or shirts with furry themed art or such, and I dont really have anything of that nature), and who also doesnt know the people there (who I assume are probably at least partly familiar with eachother since from the sound of it it might be a somewhat regular event).

Happy for you that you will go to a furmeet. You don't have to judge yourself so hard. I was on a (big) Furry convention and I don't even have a sona. The Furry fandom is a very open and friendly one as far as I experienced it. :)

but that friend is in the same boat as I am so it only helps so much.

This doesn't have to be a disadvantage, as this way you are not "locked into" their group and both of you have more incentive to branch out and find people you vibe with while still having each other in case someone feels uncomfortable.

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

yeah, it ended up going pretty well. Was still shy about talking to people there but was was still able to chat with some of them and the general mood was pretty whimsical I think.

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 2 points 5 days ago

Sounds great. And with future meetups the shyness might get less and less.

[–] MrMoopne@lemmus.org 3 points 1 week ago

We all have to start somewhere! I also showed up with nothing “furry” and no one judged me for it :) You’ll be fine!!

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think I will start pinning original art posts of our community members for about one week. I'm always happy when you post your own artwork and it should get more attention that it can get when it gets pushed down by later posts of me or others.

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 3 points 1 week ago

I like that idea. Although I usually only browse the Local + Subscribed feeds, it's a nice way to show what the community has to offer when people first visit :3

[–] MrMoopne@lemmus.org 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just found out about Lemmy, and I've been loving the vibes here, I just need to find communities now :)

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Welcome to the Fediverse. Happy you like it here ^^

Finding all communities you will like takes some time. You can scroll the community list of some instances if you want. Also browsing the all feed can bring something up. Often communities list related communities in their descriptions too.

[–] MrMoopne@lemmus.org 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

My main question is, How do i post stuff on multiple platforms without spamming someones feed with the same piece of artwork like 5 times in a row lmao

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Can you give an example what you try to do and what you mean exactly with "platform"?

[–] MrMoopne@lemmus.org 2 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Like, the art I posted of my sona yesterday, I originally posted it on Mastodon, and then I saw it again on my Mastodon timeline when I posted it here. I just dont want to be taking over peoples timelines when I post stuff in multiple places lol

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

You can add a @ mention to this community in your Masto posts, then it will also be shown here. But as you can not add titles in Masto, I don't know what line of your post Lemmy will use as the title.
For more discussion oriented content, you can just post it here. As you saw it can also federate to Masto, though I don't know if hashtags are supported.

I see, so there is no real way to prevent posts on Lenny from ending up on Mastodon if their home servers are federated with one another.

Also useful information for the @, thank you :)

Yea, this is the core idea of the Fediverse ;)

My job situation is starting to maybe look a little less terrible than a few weeks ago. It's still far from good because nobody wants to give me a job, but at least my attempts to head in a different direction aren't immediately rejected. I have a few online tests to do, and if they go well, they'll invite me to an interview, and maybe I'll be able to start my "career" from scratch next year :3

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I wish the best for your tests and job interviews. What is the new direction if I may ask?

I notice the effects of the current recession, not on myself but my friends where some also are job-hunting without success for a while. The growing hopelessness is sad to witness. And not just in IT; because of the falling birth rate friends who studied in the field of daycare are also struggling right now.

[–] LordAmplifier@pawb.social 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The economy definitely makes it tough to find a job at the moment! Your friends' experience with unsuccessful job-hunting sounds very familiar. The new direction is working for a local government and basically being the person you talk to to get licences, permits, and other documents like that. It's pretty much a dead end in terms of career (you can move horizontally but not vertically, I guess), but it sounds chill, pays well enough, has high job security, and sounds a lot better than making money for random corporations (most of my current options include some form of marketing, which I hate)

[–] green_copper@pawb.social 2 points 5 days ago

If you are prepared for boredom interrupted by dealing with upset customers (or whatever the term for them is in government context) then it is a chill job indeed which is unlikely to get replaced by technology soon. And I think payment is adjusted to inflation now and then (well, depending on the country), so you don't have to be good at salary negotiations, which is another plus.
