A caveat on the Brazilian side of things: yes, we have to thanks Alexandre de Moraes for curbing some of bozonero's attacks, but some of the stuff he is doing is of questionable legality (then again, judges in Brazil have long been warping the law however the fuck they want, as the worst that can happen to any judge here is being "forcibly retired"). While the country isn't a "toga dictatorship", as bozo and his flunkies yell, our supreme court has no counterweights. If a supreme judge decides to fuck around, everyone else will find out, except him.

Another important note: the current congress is almost identical to the one elected in 2018, the majority is right-wing and they've been fucking around, trying to vote for general amnesty to everyone involved in the coup attempt in 8 of january while barring nearly everything else from being talked or voted in congress.

EDIT: More importantly, it wasn't Moraes or the Supreme Court that stopped the coup, it was a dash of luck (an assassination attempt targeting Moraes, Lula and Alckmin was planned, but didn't happen, see Punhal Verde Amarelo), good judgement call from Lula (part of the plan for the coup to succeed was to cause a ruckus, which would lead the president to call the army to reestablish order, at which point the generals would declare siege - Lula almost called the army, but didn't) and the competence of the man who started ordering the cops hours after the attacks began, Ricardo Capelli, since their commander was off on a holiday.
