Using it for porn sounds funny to me given the whole concept of "rule 34" being pretty ubiquitous. If it exists, there's porn of it! Like even from a completely pragmatic prespective, it sounds like generating pictures of cats. Surely there is a never ending ocean of cat pictures which you can search and refine, do you really need to bring a hallucination machine into the mix? Maybe your friend has an extremely specific fetish list that nothing else will scratch? That's all I can think of.

Personally I'm of the mind that as long as you genuinely wanted to create something and express yourself in some way, it's always good and worthwhile art. Maybe he's a a fame chaser and self centered, but I also have to imagine being constantly tormented all of the time might make you want to escape and also...be liked. Keep rocking Squidward, your art will always be bold and brash to me.

Hey, please update the title to follow the post formatting of an "irl community" (in our case, a word, followed by irl). Artist credit in the title is great, but yeah I'll give some time to update it (e.g. Artist_irl (Paws and Effect)). Thank you!

Yeah, giving Google unfettered access to your attention span with their algorithm (or any giant corporation) is just a disaster waiting to happen. None of them are interested in your well being or helping you in any way, only to keep you engaging, and to try pushing narratives to the masses. These very same algorithms also determine how creators act and what they post, since disobeying the nebulous 'algorithm' results in having your video cratered.

As for PeerTube, I will tell you right out of the gate it won't be a major supplement to offset something like YouTube watch time. You will find some fun though, it's quite cool watching super indie stuff you end up enjoying, think like 2005 tier YT where people just kinda post stuff for fun. If you are a creative (e.g. artist, musician, maker, tech reviewer) and have the rights to your videos, MakerTube is the instance I'm on, and they would be happy to have you (my channel). If you aren't a maker, you can browse the instance list and try to pick a server you're comfortable with (all of them have an info page which shows their rules and what you can do). I know that's tedious and overwhelming though, so I spent a little bit mulling for something I'd consider acceptable as a starting point and found Peertube.wtf. They seem to be open signups, allow video uploads with a high limit, non-US, a proper no bigotry policy, looks good at a glance anyway!

Adding to say I have the same experience. Not banned, never used a TPA, but downloaded RIF Is Fun when people were writing up a storm just to see what was even going on. When the blackouts happened, I saw the more and more unhinged shit the Reddit administration was doing to stifle the protests and decided to make my blackout permanent from then onward. My exposure to the Fediverse has entirely changed how I interact with megacorps and software now. If it's not FOSS or DRM free stuff on my device, I don't want anything to do with it. Obviously getting to 100% on that is a very tall order, but I've been making a lot of headway since 2023.

Even in spite of the vast disparity in quantity of content, I would vastly prefer Lemmy to current Reddit without contest. Even aside from the massive brain drain the blackout had, and all the ad related enshittification, imagine being punished for even upvoting awesome things like Luigi Mangione? Now instead of the countless years I spent leaving my art and constant comments to boost some boneheaded corporation, I can post them here and be involved with a movement controlled by individuals. A movement made for and funded by each other, instead of lining greedy pockets.

Technically I am still sick...of working here.

I think we would also do well to consume less content frankly. I'm closing in on two years since I've stopped viewing YouTube videos, and watching creators on platforms like Nebula or just buying indie media has been fine enough honestly. I also donate a fair bit to a creative focused PeerTube instance for my short videos.

Don't take this as an all or nothing call though. Reducing reliance on the YouTube monopoly for your eyes, and being more adversarial to YouTube to any degree more than before is a net positive. Run ad blockers, use alternative front ends like Invidious, directly download videos with YT-DLP, and redirect your content consumption to more friendly platforms (or just reduce watch time in general). There is no true alternative to YouTube, but that doesn't mean we should throw in the towel, or refuse to reclaim any bit we can back.

If you want your glass cards to stop breaking pick up Glass Joker, they'll fall in line if they know breaking benefits you.

Yeah, there's actually hostile architecture in this pic too. That middle bit on the bench is designed to make sleeping very uncomfortable, and the poor dog is doing it anyway.

This is also why satire is dead, but I digress.

Punchline aside, they're straight up blushing over it. I think whatever the idea is, they're pretty into it.

The town should remove that freeloader magnet bench and add lines of nails to the sidewalk. Then, every god fearing patriot can rest easy, knowing they won't have to see this ghastly moochery ever again. Better yet, remove the sidewalks too. If you aren't paying to go somewhere in a privately owned vehicle, you don't deserve to go there!

I Voted! (pawb.social)

Early voting is happening in a lot of places across the US. If you have the means to do so, please don't forget to cast your ballot!

I am also releasing the 'I voted' sticker and its Krita work-file for anyone to freely use, adapt, modify, and distribute. It is a vector graphic, so it can be resized infinitely. Type used is Baloo, which is SIL Open Font Licensed, and included with the work-file. https://b.cgas.io/4NfGWnJu5gVb.zip

When the lights go out without warning, you're still here to bear the night.

Had a go at 1-bit pixel art and made this vent piece.

Alt textA low resolution 1-bit (2 color) pixel art image. Pictured is an anthro fox Foxfire sitting on the ground behind a lantern. The lantern has burned out and smoke is rising upward. Foxfire is looking down at the lantern with a sad expression. The bottom of the image says Lights - out.

One can only dream of having such a power.

Haven't really used the toon force much, so here's something absurd that I had a lot of fun making!

Alt textA digital comic starring two characters, a Foxfire and Pass-Man. Foxfire is an anthro red fox with reddish-brown fur, blue eyes, dark gray paws, cream colored muzzle and tail tip. Pass Man is an anthro, buff orange lion, sporting a brown mane and a superhero style lime green suit and yellow cape. The suit has an emblem in the middle which is an open lock with two astericks inside it. Pass Man is humbly smiling with his eyes closed, standing next to a computer desk with a login page open. Foxfire is staring, wide-eyed with a giant open mouth beaming expression. Foxfire asks Pass Man "What's your superpower?"

In the second panel Pass Man stares directly at the viewer, one paw bean pointing upward. He has a confident expression, mouth open and behind a backdrop of alternating light yellow lines. He says "I don't retype my whole password if I make a typo while logging in."

The third and fourth panel have become one in the same, as both have collided together. The borders are crushed and expanded at the center, and the divide between the two has shattered, chunks of comic border whizzing by. A whole manner of decor has been destroyed. Drywall exposed from peeling paint, cracks across the room, the computer screen now black, upside-down and airborn. A shelf, broken and barely hanging by a single screw, the ceiling light has fallen out, wires exposed, leaves from a plant slowly falling to the ground, and a plushie flying off screen. Foxfire has grabbed Pass Man literally through the panels, pressing his nose up to his, stars in his eyes. Pass Man has a shocked expression, pupils heavily shrunk. His cape is upward, still reacting to the force of the pull and sudden stop. Foxfire says "Wow! So cool!" Foxfire's tail is hanging out of the panel.

Bottom of the comic has text which reads "Foxfire - Pass Man-ager".

Drew my best friend and little sister Stealthy! Went with a lineless approach because it seemed like it'd be a challenge and I hadn't done it in a while.

Alt TextA lineless digital drawing of an MtF cyan anthro fox named Stealthy. She has black ears, black paws, and black tips on her long cyan hair, some of which is covering your left (her right) side of the face. She has a white muzzle, turquoise eyes, a gray band above her nose and the middle of her tail, white claws, pink paw beans, and a white tail tip with a black zig-zag separating the tip from the rest of the cyan tail. She's wearing a cozy turquoise sweater, along with a darker turquoise skirt.

Stealthy is beaming with a large, open mouth, fangs visible smile. She is waving her right (your left) arm up to say hello. She is standing on top of a large, cylindrical purple podium, and behind her is a light lavender backdrop with a few large darker wavy lines, along with a few white stars which dot the area. Beside her foot-paws is text on the ground which reads "Stealthy"

What are you waiting for, it's free!

Alt Text (Accessibility)Digital art of Kate, an anthro gray house-cat with long, brunette hair. She has part of her hair in a beehive, bangs, and the rest falling behind and over her shoulder. Kate is wearing pajamas, consisting of a loose fitting pink nightgown, and purple sweatpants. She is looking directly at the viewer, distinct tired bags under her eyes, with a large smug grin. Her left (your right) arm is gesturing towards an empty cardboard box beside her. The box is open, with all four flaps at varying heights on each side. To your right of Kate, and above the cardboard box, there is text which says "It's free real estate". Kate, the box, and the text have a large white stroke around them, imitating a sticker design.

This phrase is a reference to a skit from Tim and Eric (Free House For You, Jim), which spread around and became a bit of a meme several years ago now. It is used in this context relating to cats tending to lay in shipping boxes. She is laying claim to the cardboard as if it were indeed, free real estate.

Date_irl

Didn't want to upload that same image from Reddit's furry_irl that gets posted each year, so I made my own. This is the only day this post will be accurate. Have a great 6/21 everyone!

Alt text (accessibility)A pixel art rendition of Esix, the mascot of E621, a website that hosts and tags furry art which is often explicit. Esix is an anthro feline like creature who has a literal hexagon for a face, a blue body, white ears with yellow tips, and yellow fingers. Portions of them, such as the fingers and ears, float above the body unconnected.

The top of the image has text which says It's June 21st, where June is in a yellow ribbon styled rectangle, denoting the month portion of a simple calendar. The 21 is in a white square box under it, like a daily calendar you'd rip the page off of.

The bottom of the image has Esix looking directly at the viewer with partially closed eyes and a big smile. Their right (your left) hand is pointing upward at the date. Their opposite side has Esix's yellow flame tail visible.

This date is relevant because with dating methods which use Month/Day/Year or Year/Month/Day, it makes the number 6 21, which is the number for E621. It is mentioned in furry circles when it comes around each year.

The background is darker blue, with a series of even darker hexagon rings that form a hexagon in the center. There is a dotted white outline which runs across the entire border of the image.

I think I made the right choice, I've heard people are dying to get into these places after all.

An idea exaggerated from 100 too many crises and no more spoons. Doing what you can, and focusing on what you can control is enough.

Alt Text (Accessibility)A four panel comic which uses exaggerated postures and colorful backdrops. The delivery should be read sarcastically.

The first panel shows a disgruntled anthro mouse with brown fur, and light pink ears, hands, and tail. He's wearing a gray flat cap and a near black vest, which is opened to show a cream colored body. He's standing in a profile view, but with his hands holding a cocktail toothpick between his fingers, and his left (your right) arm is foreshortened towards you. The toothpick is also coming at you, with a sharp point and a sparkle at the end. There is text which says "We've reached an impasse. This is not sustainable!" This is in front is a purple background with a tunneling spiral of darker purple lines.

Second panel is the same mouse, but now with both arms raised above his head, both hands clasping his now vertical toothpick. His head is looking straight up, making only his screaming mouth visible. On the left is text which says "We either FIGHT" with a sword graphic on top, and "Or we DIE" with a skull graphic on the right. Left is alternating yellows, right is reds.

Third panel is an anthro fox, Foxfire, who has reddish-brown fur, dark gray paws, and cream muzzle, chest, and tail tip. He has an overly excited expression, eyes replaced with sparkles and mouth agape. He says "You mean...I get a CHOICE‽"

The final panel is Foxfire's tombstone in a cemetery. It reads "RIP Foxfire - THANK GOD!" There is a smiling sun to further empathize the absurdity.

Sharing your art be like.

I'm quite happy with my pixel art rendition of Foxfire this time around. He looks so excited!

Alt Text (Accessibility)A lineless pixel art rendition of Foxfire, an anthro fox with reddish-brown fur, a cream muzzle, chest tuff, and tail tip, and dark gray hand and foot paws. He is standing, has a big open mouth smile, and is gesturing his right (your left) hand-paw at a golden picture frame. Within the frame is a textured white canvas, which has a rendition of a rubber duck on the surface of water, with a purple twilight sky above. This scene is shown within a large paint spatter, which sprawls from the center of the canvas and outward vertically.

Foxfire is standing in an otherwise empty, dark, de-saturated purple room, with a gray-purple floor. The top of the image has a textbox in this same floor color which says: BEHOLD...A DUCK!

Short pixel art skit I made for the 1st of April!

Oh, hey there! Have a bonus panel for opening the post body! Bonus panel

What are you gonna do now that you don't feel tired for once?
