How is it acceptable anywhere for someone to be expelled for hitting someone else, in a scenario like this where the cause is completely understandable and justifiable? If anything, the kid making deepfake porn should be the one expelled because that kinda thing can be legitimately life-ruining for its target. The person being expelled had every reason, right, and justification to throw hands.

I'm probably sounding like Ailurus here, but this is screwed up.

Also, isn't deepfake porn a crime in a lot of places even if it's of adults, and not of kids like in this case, which CP is already hella illegal on its own?

Given MS has been testing Windows on the Cloud in the enterprise space for a while now, I wouldn't be shocked if future major Windows versions, ie. Win12, became cloud-based.

This is why I'm glad PCs aren't locked down like phones and there's nothing stopping you from running an alt OS on the desktop yet.

We need an alternative made without googles shitty hands in the mix. This forced duopoly between Apple and Google sucks.

That goes for MS and Apple on the desktop too, and allegedly Google is trying to enter that space as well for the umpteenth time.

At least as far as PCs are concerned, they're still unlocked at the bootloader level, despite MS' attempts to lock that down, and there's nothing stopping you from installing Linux or BSD on your PC still. Mobile devices outside a handful which aren't locked down, unfortunately don't have that luxury.

Android is a thing on flip phones too now though.

Don't consider this a win, guys, this is more of an 'Oh shit, we're screwed if we follow through with this right now' moment, there's nothing stopping them from walking this back at a later, less turbulent date when no one's paying attention, and locking Android down anyways, as this directly reminds me of the situation which caused WEI to be scrapped.

Also, the EU pushing Chat Control through the back door might embolden Google to both try an Android lockdown just like was going to roll out before, and try WEI again, and get both actually pushed through somehow.

I wouldn't even be surprised if MS were emboldened to try to lock down PCs... Again....

Well, we had a huge wooden playground that was my fave spot as a kid and the fave spot of everyone else who grew up where I live over the last 25 years.

Unfortunately I can't go back to it now because it was recently torn down in place of a modern plastic playground, and even if it were still up, I'd look weird AF hanging out at places like that now that I'm older anyways.

I loved that place when it was still wooden, though.

As for recently, I've been pretty happy just doodling lately.

I've always hated generative AI and everything it stands for.

Good luck age-gating the local copies of Wikipedia for anyone who downloaded it.

ATProto's dual-licensed under MIT and Apache so it's not like it'll be easy to get rid of.

They don’t own your PC (yet)

MS pretty much owns the desktop PC space with Windows though, and even though there's nothing stopping you from installing an alt OS on PC generally, Win11 not supporting anything older than Zen+ or Coffee Lake and flat-out refusing to run on anything older than Bulldozer or Nehalem even without support because everything before those arches lacks the POPCNT instruction, isn't a good sign to say the least.

Hopefully MS don't start acting like Google and start breaking WINE/Proton and DXVK/VKD3D and crippling Linux gaming and even general desktop use on Linux, or even forcing Pluton to be enabled platform-wide blocking the ability to install alt OSes.
