They have different pronouciations? I mean they differ very little in the 1st vowel, but it's almost indistinguishable to my brain.

Genuinely - as a non-American - what's wrong with saying "US of A"?
The last sentence only makes sense comparatively. If you assume wealth/richness is having enough resources to thrive, then imho everybody can be rich.
