How do you make your eyes this good? Reading your comment I stared at it and saw nothing wrong until I put a ruler on the screen.

am now thinking maybe the minus sign should be interpreted literally. like maybe there is some invariant involving the number of red nodes minus the number of black nodes along some path or within some group of nodes. not sure what that invariant would be though

Interesting that this article title has a dash for left-leaning and a minus sign for red–black

LLMs can help with trading. As an example, if you can read news articles 1000x faster than a human, then you can make appropriate market decisions that much faster and make profit off that. These need not be very intelligent market decisions. Any idiot and every LLM knows perfectly well what stocks to buy or sell when there is an announcement for tariff on product xyz.

In case you didn't know, DeepSeek was made by a trading company.

Hijacking this comment. If you find their service valuable, you should consider using this social media site, it is home to much more content and behavior similar to what cm0002 post and do here on Lemmy!

Your perspective must be warped by the extremely politicized internet. Most of these "young science and technology professionals" only care only about money. Maybe a small fraction also care about being around skilled people to keep their work interesting. No one care about the regime they are under. These people are rich enough to not suffer from it.

From a post in !til@lemmy.world (bold emphasis mine)

There's about a million Druze people in the Middle East, including in Israel. They apparently do well in Israeli society. They are educated. They serve in the military.

Druze in Syria are not doing well, though. They are under attack right now, where things are just generally kind of shit. The Syrian government is trying to hold things together, but Syrian government forces are killing people and attacking religious minorities, including the Druze.

Oh the poor Syrian government! If only their forces would stop committing atrocities!

A microblog post by @kareem_carr saying "as soon as i saw they were using asterisks for multiplication symbols, i knew we were in trouble", with an image from the "Office of the United States Trade Representative (Executive Office of the President)" showing the mathematical formula $\Delta \tau_i = \frac{x_i - m_i}{\varepsilon * \varphi * m_i}$. The formula show asterisks (*) instead of multiplication signs (×).

I am seeing posts from https://hexbear.net/ once again. Anyone know what happened since they lost their domain name? How did they get it back?

Did I say OC? I photoshopped the Bloomberg thing on top of someone else's meme that I ~~stole~~ obtained via fair use. It's basically OC by tech companies' standards.

Caption: an interview dialogue

  • Are dark matter models unsuited to explain observations? [the "dark matter models" and "to explain observations" parts are poorly edited onto the image, overlaying the original text]
  • In my view, they are unsuited.
  • Why?
  • That's my opinion, don't ask me why.

End of caption

Dark matter is the mainstream among physicists, but internet commentators keep saying it can't be right because it "feels off".

Of course, skepticism is good for science! You just need to justify it more than saying the mainstream "feels off".

For people who prefer alternative explanations over dark matter for non-vibe-based reasons, I would love to hear your thoughts! Leave a comment!

Absolutely humongous model. Mixture of 256 experts with 8 activated each time.

Aider leaderboard: The only model above 🐋 v3 here is ~~Open~~AI o1. DeepSeek is known to make amazing models and Aider rotates their benchmark over time, so it is unlikely that this is a train-on-benchmark situation.

Some more benchmarks: on Reddit.
