This little scaredy cat got into the warehouse in which I work, and someone had to save her so I did. I recently asked about integrating her into my house with my 2y old cat.

So far, she's been quarantined in a separate room, she's got a bite on her foot I wasn't told about that looks partially healed, but still not great, and so I'll have to figure that out first. I have a cone on the way to stop her from licking at it until I can get her to the vet (who was supposed to email me yesterday...c'mon guys kitty need help!) Unclear if the bite came from one of the dogs inside the warehouse, or (lord I hope not, but...honestly I think so..), the raccoon she was spotted near a few days before she gained entry to the warehouse. I have a pic if anyone wants to see it, but it looks like a lil puncture wound (not exactly cute) so I'm only going to if someone requests 'cause they wanna help (as much help as that can be, need the vet for sure but advice is always welcome in the meantime!!)

She's terrified, but, that's probably normal? I mean, she's a wounded stray captured in a humane trap and then was fostered in a bathroom for a while until I got her in her own room. It's been like 26hr since I got her here, I'd be scared too. That said, she'll hiss and hiss but won't bite or scratch, when she hisses I'll pause and slow blink, then keep going, when I reach her she'll let me pet her, pick her up, starts purring and rubbing her face into the pets, y'know, cat stuff. So, pretty good? Idk! I've only adopted from humane rescues so far this is kiiiinda my first "found it in a dumpster" cat.

My tubby kitty, resident idiot... Idk if she's even noticed, despite the new kitten using her separate box (clearly "smells" involved there wafting under the door) and she definitely heard her meowing at me (begging for release into the wild) about 1h ago. Doesn't seem to care at all, who knows with this dingus! Maybe they'll become fast friends when they see each other, here's hoping!

Ok little backstory, I had cat, rescued another, the first has since passed but the second (Ripley) is still here. Another cat broke into our warehouse at work and someone needs to rescue it, and the duty has fallen on me. Ripley did OK as a kitten with my other cat, but since becoming an only-cat she has had scant interactions with strays coming up to my glass door, but she tries to fight them every time lol. I think she'll come around though.

Here's the plan, gonna clean out my "spare" room and make the new kitten a fort in there with a freshly washed blanket, get her some toys of her own, own box and food etc. I'm gonna keep em completely separated for a couple days, then swap them for a few hours to let them explore the other's scent, then swap back, rinse and repeat for like a week?ish? Once they start sniffing under the door and stuff I'm going to try and let them see but not touch each other (and have no clue how I'll achieve this, any ideas would be helpful!) and then after a few of those if no hissing occurs and they seem chill, let them meet finally.

Both cats female, current resident is about 2-3, new resident is less than 1yo. Will get all the shots and spay, of course. Shots ASAP for sure, spey idk if I should wait until they're friends?

Any tips? Sounds pretty good? Typed a little rushed on break at work, sorry, just found out I'm taking the cat lol.

I just ran into the weirdest bug using meshtastic, I don't even know where to start searching for answers so I figured I'd see if anyone here had any ideas.

So, I'm using a t1000e in pocket/on the go and a heltec v3 in a window upstairs. Both are connected to MQTT on a local channel [State Redacted]Mesh. I've been home for a few hours now and neglected to switch from the t1000e to the V3, TX and RX the whole time from the t1000e. I just noticed and said "ah let me turn off the pocket and switch to the home node," switched over, and all the messages sent hours ago doubled up and got reposted to the mesh somehow just from switching nodes. I know this because the second I switched the room's bot posted a joke, and last person to call !joke was me, 7h ago, and when I commented on it someone said "yeah you just reposted something you said hours ago."

What the hell?! Any ideas? Problem started today afaik, haven't changed any settings. I don't want to spam the SRMesh with hours old messages for no reason lmao. I do not have store and forward on.

Edit: Forgot about this part!

The other weird thing is if I hit traceroute on someone from the SRMesh, nothing happens (but it should be "direct," because "mqtt"), I can do a bunch of them and nothing, but then when I switch nodes and back again all the traceroute windows pop up at once like 1998 popups. WAT.

Edit again: Guy in the mesh said "I had some weird shit going on once, not exactly this, but try deleting the app cache."

It worked. Didn't even have to delete storage.

Edit No. what, 3?: Spoke too soon, it's back, and it isn't just me. Turned off MQTT on all but one node, whatever.

Got my first two devices on tuesday and I've been traveling around with them! Seems the t114 has much better range but is a less convenient package of course (and damn amazon didn't ship my GPS module, so now that is on the way with an upgraded antenna and a heltec v3 cause why not?)

I've been able to make a few connections, but I had a couple questions about some of them.

I've been able to connect to a few nodes around town, even got one reply, but there seems to be two categories of nodes, some "recognized" and some "unrecognized." Does anyone know why that could be? Can I still talk to them if they're unrecognized, and/or do they still route packets? Can I fix that or do the other nodes' owners have to?

Glad I finally got into it, been having fun and apparently my area has some activity (even if I'm in a deadzone at the bottom of a hill for now.)

Edit: Ok I keep forgetting about redlib so I think I don't have access to Ye Olde Country because VPN and I refuse all apps, but I just remembered and searched there! So if anyone else has this question like me it seems that:

These appear to be running an older version of the meshtastic firmware [pre-2.5] which likely do not have an updated public key.

Hey everyone, I hope this is ok to post here! I've been putting off getting into meshtastic for a while now but the time has come to play around with it. I have done some research but I always like to talk to real people if possible for real world advice and experience, not just youtube salesman and AI top ten lists. I have minimal experience with radio, but some.

As to meshtastic the research I've done has pointed me to a few LoRa boards, the heltec t114 v2, and the Lilygo t-beam, and also the Lilygo T-deck plus.

I really would love to have a phoneless standalone set up, but have seen some stuff about the T-deck lacking good firmware and so it isn't "ready," but then I've seen some people say to the contrary that some good firmware exists now. Are there other better phoneless devices for meshtastic? Is the t-deck good enough now that I could pick that up now and add some t114s later to expand the network? Or should I go with a couple t114s, and wait til phoneless matures a little?

As for the phone using set ups, are there other boards I should look at instead of the t114 and the t-beam? I do require either it to come with a case or have available .stl files to print one, I suck at CAD.

My final questions are to the antennas, is there an antenna manufacturer that is commonly recommended for meshtastics (915 khz), and am I looking for SMA female or SMA male connectors on the antenna, or does that depend on the board in question? I tried searching the product page for the heltec board and SMA isn't mentioned anywhere according to ctrl+f. I see some kits with an antenna on amazon, but they don't mention either and I'm sure I'll want to upgrade the dinky rubber ducky it comes with.
