Why don't you just block the hexbear instance? lemm.ee is an instance that rarely defederates from another.

as far as I can tell, blocking the instance doesn't hide the comments posted by accounts on that instance in other communities.
Indeed. Lemmy instance blocking only mutes community.
The only way to actually block an instance at the user level is to either choose an instance that does (lemmy.ca, sopuli.xy, sh.itjust.works) or use https://piefed.social/
So the problem are the comments from hexbeart.net users? Maybe this can be changed on a future lemmy version. Defederating seems too extreme.
I have them blocked in Voyager. I just don't understand why I didn't see any of their comments for over a year until suddenly now. I've been on the same instance the whole time and they only recently had their offline debacle, so it makes no sense to me why they were successfully hidden from my view for so long.
I don't get y'all's problem with hexbear.
lemm.ee is the instance of choice for many due to it not defederating unless absolutely necessary. If u don't like it block em.
I did, it apparently does nothing meaningful if it's not on an individual user level.
Well go to a different instance. Or just ignore them
Hexbear is toxic trash. Do not join their posts or communicate with people from their.
They were never defederated.
If users are submitting posts or comments that are in conflict with site-wide or community rules, report them. I have personally not seen sweeping rulebreaking content in our communities, so I don't know why they should be defederated either.
