Is there a way for larger channels to monetize? Because having a smaller amount of viewers on peertube means less from in video ads and less people clicking affiliate links so I can’t really see a ton of larger channels moving over unless instances can have ads to help monetize things.

They should post their videos on both platforms.
I suppose if it's a big enough channel a lot of their viewers might follow and there's nothing stopping putting Affiliated links in the description. No ads on YouTube so need to have a patron or liberapay or whatever.
