You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Does it though? The other user implies that the OOP is a clown who is narcissistic and likes themselves.

Ah, that's a reply. That screenshot is not particularly clear

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

mechalesbian made a post, then satyew replied, then mechalesbian reblogged her own post with a screenshot of the reply (this is actually normal for Tumblr)

[–] [email protected] 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

And not only is it a reply, it's a reply after OP boosted their own post (so it would bump the feed again).

Edit no wait I'm wrong. They boosted a reply they got. What even social media is this ?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

tumblr. the reply is in a screenshot.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If the reply is in a screenshot then what was reblogged?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

i don't know actually, i'm not on tumblr.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago

To me the image looks like a combination of a screenshot of the first post, with a screenshot of the reblogged reply underneath.

But I haven't been on Tumblr for years so idk

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 weeks ago

it took me some extensive rattling of the old brain box to process that joke

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

that's exactly the explanation I needed!

As someone who doesn't use mainstream social media, I appreciate the clarification. Sometimes comments in a post are read in different orders. It's especially confusing here because the middle is an embedded image, and sometimes with posts like this you're supposed to read the embedded thing first.

Anyway, thank you!

Funnily enough, my experience with Tumblr is purely second hand through screenshots like this :D

Maybe OOP is a juggalo?

When did “clown” become such a common fetish?

There’s like a bit of a “clown” renaissance in general, like a lot of younger adults (mid twenties?) are super into clowning out of nowhere.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

I mean, ICP’s cultural impact metastasizing is certainly part of it.

But also clown is a strong aesthetic, and we’re detached enough from unironic clowns being a fairly common thing that it can be repurposed for new ideas. Not many people hiring party clowns and most remaining circuses have moved on from clowns as a central element.

i blame Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice (2016)

When did “clown” become such a common fetish?

but seriously, the aesthetics fandom page on clowncore explains a lot.

I dig it. I’ve been wanting to go to Mooseburger to add some pinache to my science lectures, more “traditional” clowning but it is cool that it’s not just “clowns are scary” anymore.

Much like the person in the picture, people like attention.

It's annoying, but it's far better attention-seeking behavior than previous outlets for that like being an edgelord or "teh penguin of d00m" type shit.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I’m only attracted to clowns.
