Gothic II.

It's been 4 years.

I find using a note taking application like obsidian or joblin or even just a notebook and when I stop a game or even just periodically write a note and summary of what I was doing and my overall head space like my current goals in the game. Keep me from having to start over. I learn to do this with DnD and it translated over to video games quite well.

I usually manage to push through now. It initially feels like it'll never be comfortable.... but it rarely takes more than an hour to be right back in the swing of it.

This happens a lot less often to me now that steam has a note taking feature that cloud-syncs

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago

I had no idea this feature existed.

Every time I go back to Terraria...

I've learned I basically can't put a game down if I want to finish that run.

I can not play something for like a week or so tops, any longer and we rapidly approach certainty that if I do eventually go back to it, I'll have to start the story again.

Metro 2033 has a re-telling of the previous story plot during the loading screen. Wish more games would do that.

Cyberpunk 2077 has an audio summary of what’s going on as if it was a new cast on the radio

I stopped playing the Witcher 3, and trying to pick it back up was very hard (I gave up)

I've done this about 5 times now. I never make it more then a couple hours in. It seems like one I would enjoy but it's a total struggle bus

I think Warcraft III has a very accurate percentage for me regarding this post title.

You're supposed to finish them?

Oh man switching back from Elden Ring to prior FromSoft games was a challenge. Jumping is handled differently in DS1, DS2, and Elden Ring, for example.

This is me in Final Fantasy. I was in the middle of the ocean on a ship. Don’t remember what I did last or where I was going. Spent an hour going around the map killing things and still couldn’t figure it out.
