The timing is significant as opposition parties have intensified allegations of voter fraud and manipulation involving duplicate voter IDs.

At least four officials said that the ECI’s intention was to always make Aadhaar-electoral rolls linkage mandatory, as reflected in the language of Form 6B, Form 6.
