Privately, many Senate Democrats conceded that their leader was doing his job by protecting his members from a tough vote and making a politically painful decision. But the backlash from his party was intense.

So nice that our elected officials would rather get shot than follow the will of their constituents

I'm sure that'll be arranged sooner or later.

Shumer: The greatest gift to Trump/Musk/MAGA destroying America would be a government shutdown.

Trump: Thank you for voting against shutdown.

Can't they vote his ass off of leader?

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 8 points 1 year ago

Just need 2/3 majority vote within the party members. Just need one to raise it for a vote.

yes, people living in states with Dem senators should pester their reps to push for more progressive leadership.

there are still a few people in both houses with integrity and drive to actually fight but they have been pushed aside by mainstream (out of touch) rich assholes like Schumer and Pelosi for too damn long.

Yes they can

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yes but it won't change the scope of his influence as minority leader. He can still vote the way he does, ask others to join him.

Let's hope.

At the rate things are progressing, that might be more literal than he intended it to be. Stay safe, Senator.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Not a damn thing, I don't mean it as a threat. I'm just reading the writing on the wall.
