watches, atomic clock don't measure time, they count the vibrations of a quartz crystal.

there is no need to use time, you can just say my car travel X km per 1 million vibrations of a quartz crystal.

Ironic: Marx is a cynic, and cynics are Marxist.

spoiler

I'm joking, but it's at least kinda true (or would've been, if Marxism had been around at the time). Consider some assorted quotes by Diogenes:

“Alexander the Great found the philosopher looking attentively at a pile of human bones. Diogenes explained, "I am searching for the bones of your father but cannot distinguish them from those of a slave.”

Once he saw the officials of a temple leading away some one who had stolen a bowl belonging to the treasurers, and said, "The great thieves are leading away the little thief.”

“What I like to drink most is wine that belongs to others.”

"In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face."

Aristotle and Kant are the first two for anyone that might not know

Sure if you ignore that keeping track of time predates capitalism by several millennia, and that the unrelenting march of entropy doesn't care about what we think regarding the economy.

It's a stretch, and not Capitalism, but arguably the primitive agrarian societies were the first to have an exploited worker class.

Being and remaining alive is almost by definition a battle against time.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

I said it was a stretch, tracking time certainly was already important for hunter-gatherer societies. I was not disagreeing with you.

Clocks first widespread use was to facilitate stock trading and to exert control over working hours of factory workers

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 month ago

Clocks [sic] first widespread use was to get miserable monks up at unholy-o'clock to pray to magical sky man.

Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

A lot of clocks were designed by factory managers to control worker time.

Me and another commenter waiting on the lefties to seriously make the point:

"The passage of time is stepping on the foundation of reality in order to pursue the ideals of the imaginary."

~Someone else who probably said it better

Literally invented by capitalism
